Bad Custom Fit Experience

  1. Hi. Be interested to know if there is anything Titleist would do after a bad custom fit? Ended up with clubs that are less in distance (despite my brief being that it was the reason for the change to gain distance over my existing clubs). Shafts that were recommended (R300) are to heavy for me and the result is hitting my 7. Iron only 130 yards (140 with old clubs). Lie angle recommended was 3 degrees flat but irons turned up 2 degrees with me having no communication to exaplain why until it was too late. Been for since by another Titleist dealer and numbers showed that I should have been fitted with graphite Kuro Kage 65 regular shafts and an explanation on why the irons could only be 2 degrees flat and not 3.

Any recommendations or opinions would be appreciated.

    Thanks .

Hello Keith, We are very sorry to hear of your experience. Please contact us at 888-TITLEIST. We can work with you and a fitter to make sure that you are properly fit and that your irons perform optimally for you.
  3. Cathi. Thank you for your response and I'm glad Titleist can resolve this problem for me. I'm based in the UK so how best to move forward on this?

    Thanks again.

Hi Keith, We did not realize that you were in the UK. I have contacted our UK office and you should be hearing from them shortly.

I had a bad fit a few years ago. I went to a retail store for a fitting instead to a Titleist certified fitter because I had a friend who worked there and felt he know what he was doing because he was a teaching pro. Paid the price in my scoring and my distances. When the 716AP1s came out I went to a Titleist Thursday fitting, changed the shafts which I was hitting too high, the lie which caused me to hit the ball left and with the new irons I did pick up the distance I was seeking. Sold my APs. When looking for a fitter, put friendships aside, look to their credentials, not favors. We have two Titleist certified in my community with strong backgrounds I only use them, NOW. Lesson learned on my part. I was fortunate that someone was looking for the setup that I had in my AP2s.

I'm just curious what the " old " clubs are. I was hitting a friends TM irons this past summer and was amazed at how long they were. Then we realized that the loft of his 7 iron is the same as my 5...
  7. Steve. They were 15 year old miz Comp EZ, forged with very weak lofts by todays standards so very dissapointed to end up with new clubs/modern technology and less distance etc. To be fair I've had a response from a Titleist club concierge and it looks like there could get resolved, very glad as had to go back to the Mizunos.

I think we've all been to a less than desirable fitting, or tried clubs based on the wrong information. I don't want to make a wrong assumption here, so I'll just say it's a lesson learned, one many of us have been through. As Chuck and Cathi stated, the trust in a fitter is huge. Find one, stick with him/her, and you'll be happy down the road, trust me.....
  9. I hear what you say Edward but this was a Titleist fitting day at my club, the fitter was a Titleist employee and therefore my trust and expectations were high.
