Just a note of a personal experience. I am a decent ball striker, and have played Titleist MB irons for at least 30 years. Currently 716T-MB. My newly fitted 917D3 has been great but I was not as accurate as desired. I choked down about 2 inches on the grip and accuracy improved to a miraculous extent. I had the shaft then cut to 43.5 and have never been happier and have no loss of distance. Just thought others might be interested. Perhaps as I have aged the longer length was not appropriate and that appears to be correct. The shaft BTW is the spectacular Fujikura Speeder in driver, 917F fairway and 816 hybrid.
