Yikes, how tall are you? I'm 6' 4".

I used to play clubs +1" and recently got professionally fit to +.5", to my surprise.

I don't imagine anyone on tour would be over +.75".

Hi. Thx for your answer. I read that you all question the nessesity for 2 inch longer. For me, it just makes my setup feel easy. I read that you think that if Titleist allows 2 inches it should be ok when it comes to performence of the club. I read that it might influence lie angel at impact and that i should test it with a professional club fitter. Thanks for all your advice. Best regards Kristian

I'm thinking, the club will perform as it is built to its spec whether it's longer or shorter than standard. But on the other hand, shouldn't the question be more directed towards the user of the club for the 2 inch plus shaft spec?

So if the outcome in fitting specs calls for 2 inch plus shaft for a player, it would be ideal and beneficial for the player to have that custom specs for his/her use rather than continue playing a standard length shaft.

Stores/pro-shops will allow anyone to order what a customer "wants" even if it's outside of what they need (with hopes that they'll give you a fair advise provided they know/learn about who the user will be). The main objective of an entrepreneur is to make sales.

... I mean some of the guys whether tall or short have had their clubs fit and it's a half inch short, too. I heard Ernie Els is one of them- but don't quote me on that.

So to answer your question, yes, I trust that the club will perform as well as it is built to spec.

I hope that you were fitted to by a Titleist certified fitter to ensure that you needed +2". That is a lot of length unless you are an extremely tall individual.

I am 6'-6" and +1/2" on my irons and wedges....wow! two inches!! you must be 9 feet tall! Regardless, I would never question the integrity of Titleist clubs at extra length.

I'm 6'6" and ordered a set of Vokes last year that were 1" longer. Did so to match the length of the rest of my set...and just to be more comfortable in my setup.

It has without a doubt helped my wedge game.

If you are having second thoughts, I would lengthen one of your older wedges and/or consult with a good fitter. I am not an expert, but it seems like there would be other considerations such as lie setting, shaft choice and flex with that long a club.

Agree with other comments about getting fit. For most golfers not former NBA centers, that much length will need a significant lie adjustment to keep from digging the heel. The theory is a longer shaft results in more club head speed, but also comes with the penalty of further off center hits unless the swing is more precise as well. That's why drivers sold to the masses trend towards 46 inches and pros tend to keep length at 44.5 inches. Less dispersion with the shorter shaft.
