  1. Hi Some time ago I decided to get a new Driver 917 D and 917 F 5 wood - but this time opted for a Professional fitting as in the past purely bought on feel and what i liked - have been lucky as served me well. Thought i would go this new route as the new drivers etc. have so many combinations and permutations to get right - Get someone who knows. Played Abergele Golf Club ( what a good course ) and after the round spoke to the Pro in the shop about my proposed new investment - it turned out they were Titleist Ambassadors - perfect. The professional Stuart Runcie of SRG was fantastic along with everyone in the shop - just pleasure to deal with - took all their details to phone for a fitting appointment.

Made the appointment - so all set. Did all the usual due dillagence on what i required etc. The data on Trackman is truly amazing - and figures do not lie - but the Key is the Pro who translates the data and makes the crucial adjustments to befit the Max potential to each club.

What you think you know and want - may not be the best for you - the numbers / flight dispersion / swing speed / smash factor / distance etc its all there just need translating. Stuart made a few adjustments - and the strike rate was amazing - with each adjustment it just got better and better.

As a result purchased the 5 wood and the driver.

Stuart was also kind enough to send all the trackman data

The bottom line is this - every time i hit the new clubs - they are straight and long - BOOM. Time well spent - I would recommend Stuart of SRG at Abergele Gold Club to everyone - he was just amazing and was right on the money with each adjustment - PERFECT.

congrats, michael! A pro fitting is the only way to go. Next complete fitting, treat yourself to a tour fitting at TPI in Oceanside and the Cameron Gallery in Encinitas. It will be the greatest experience ever! Hit them well!

Hi Micheal could not agree with you more. I went to my pro at Runcorn GC Kevin Hartley , I also went knowing what I thought I needed, but came away with the total opposite . Thinking I needed the lowest weight in the 917 driver to reduce my spin rate , I actually needed the heaviest (16g).
The launch angle, club head speed & spin rate changed so much it was unbelievable . Trackman never lies needles to say I now have a new 917 driver , 3 wood & 816 h2 in the bag . Best of all it took 6 days from fitting to delivery from Titleist .
I agree with you Abergele is a great course got my first hole in one on the second hole a couple of years ago there.

  4. Hi Stuart
Great set up - what driver and shaft did you end up with. All I can say this new 917 Range is fabulous - due to confidence through accuracy compounded with distance you can attack holes a lot more - super fun.
