  1. I'm getting a T-MB 2 Iron so I can attack par 5's with confidence that my ball will hold on the green, so I need it to go FAR and HIGH. I also plan on using it off the tee, but mainly for par 5 approaches because my 3-wood launches too low to attack well-guarded greens. Wondering what shaft would be good for my T-MB? Should I only be looking at iron shafts in the catalog or can I put a hybrid shaft in it? For a reference, my swing speed is 108-111 and I'm hitting Project X LZ 6.5's in my CB's.

You really need to spend a bit of time with a good fitter. If your clubhead speed is 108-111 MPH with a 2-iron you should have no trouble hitting a 3 wood high enough to stop. You should also look at the 816 line, a number of better players and Tour guys use these in place of long irons. The launch can be made pretty high with the right shaft selection.

Like 19hole said ... a visit to a fitter would be best. However, you may want to consider the same shaft you have in your irons as a starting point (if you like the flight you are getting with your irons).

I am currently gaming the T-MB 2 Iron with a KBS Tour 130g (x-stiff). I plan to try the Graphite Design Tour AD Utility Driving Iron shaft just to see what the difference (performance/feel) may be (I play the GD Tour AD-DI in my driver and 3w)!

I have seen this question a few times in this board about hybrid shafts and a Titleist concierge has replied that the tip of the hybrid shafts have a larger diameter than the tmb will take.

If you like your iron shafts I have seen that there is a graphite project x Lz shaft that may work, but it's not in the titleist custom club line up. Another option would be the PXI.

I was also looking at a tmb as i thought I wanted a forgiving long iron but when I went to try it out I compared it to the 915 hybrids and 816 hybrids which offered me better dispersion and the higher flight. It would be worth taking a look at for flying trouble and getting a high flight to soft landing.

  5. You must be looking to copy my set up. I have the T-MB 2 iron with the project X 6.5 which is the same as my CB's. I have just been custom fit for a 917f3 3 wood with a Fujikura Speeder VC8.2 Tour Spec X stiff shaft. Since using them both I tend to find I can hit the 3 wood higher for softer landings. The 2 iron is perfect off the tee and when on trackman it goes 10 yards further than my 3 wood with a similar swing speed to yours. Only issue is the 3 wood shaft was an very expensive uplift but out of trying 10 shafts it was the best by miles for consistency.

I could never hit hybrids as it just doesn't fit my eye well. So glad that Titleist came out with the T-MB's. I started with the 2-iron as a 5 wood replacement. I loved it so much that I got a 3-iron. Thinking about getting a 4-iron now lol.
  7. Thanks guys!
