917 Weight Kit Price

    I just saw the retail price for a 917 weight kit and I have to say, I'm a little shocked at the price tag. $180? Jeez! Didn't the 915 weight kit retail around $60.

    There are ten weights in the 917 (Driver and Fairway) kit vs five in the older models. You get a neutral and a draw/fade for each weight. You can check with a Titleist retailer into purchasing individual weights.

    The 917 kits has far more weights in it and those weights a quite a bit more expensive. For each weight value there is a neutral and a fade/draw weight.

    There really is no need to buy the entire kit. If you are properly fit and you feel that the swingweight is a bit too light or heavy, just get the weight that is either the next lighter or heavier. Adding or subtracting more than 2 grams makes for a very large change in the feel of the club.

    The MSRP for the individual weights is $40.

    Wow, $40 for a single weight?! That is crazy, I just don't agree with this.

    I mess around with weights all the time in my woods and hybrids. Swing changes, shaft changes, there are many factors that affect what you need/want
    in those clubs, why not make the weight kit available to the consumer who is shelling out $400+ for a new driver? I guess the boys use lead tape and the men
    use the $180 Titleist weights....

    Gary, it is actually not a single weight for your $40. It is both the Neutral and the Fade/Draw of the weight you order.

    I can tell you that in all the years that clubs have had changeable weights as a professional, I have not found the need to change a weight from the ones that I found during the fitting. I have changed shafts, but Titleist has included the new, proper head weight for the shaft that I have ordered.

    To be honest, $40 for the 917 weights is pretty reasonable. That is the MSRP, what you will pay is set by the individual dealer so you may actually pay a bit less.

    @19hole. I agreed 100% that most will not have a need to change a weight after
    a fitting and I am sure Titleist will send you the proper weight in the head to get
    your desired swingweight, but there are golfers out there that like to tinker. Say someone is playing a course that favors a fade off the tee and they want to
    change just for that round? Now that Titleist has weights which will allow you
    adjust for fade/draw bias, even more reason to include the entire set of weights.
    Some golfers change drivers after 2-3 years, what if they get stronger and swing
    faster in those 2 years and have a need for more weight in the head, why not be
    able to get that weight from the included weight kit? Enough preaching by me,
    golf has been an expensive sport/game since I started playing 30+ years ago.

    Hey, you want to buy a car that costs $100k+, I would think you would
    WANT to change the oil every three months. Buy an $400 driver then
    spend another $180 for weights...

    Gary, I may not have stated this clearly. When you buy a driver, it comes with (2) weights; (1) that is Neutral and (1) that is Fade / Draw. If you want to bias the driver from neutral to draw for a particular course, you have the weight you need. No need to buy another. If for some reason you did not get the second weight with your driver you need to go back to your retailer and ask them for it. Titleist shipped it and they may have forgotten to give it to you.
