I'd like some help identifying performance differences between these two shafts. Last fall, I was fitted with a 917D2 Rogue MCAX 65 at a Thursday fitting. I was all set to order this. However, earlier this week, I hit a friend's 917D2 fitted with the Speeder at the range. Really liked it...to the point I am second guessing the fitting recommendation. Part of the problem is that I cant recall the fitting results and have not been able to compare both back to back.

The specs, on paper, seem to be close. Is there any substantial difference between these two? I may be overthinking this, but would appreciate any comments.

    Greg -
Regarding your comparison question, you can find comparisons of shafts in the Titleist website. One place is in the Clubs section under Custom Clubs link, which opens up a pdf of Club Options. Page 6 has a chart comparing shafts. try this link

Hi Greg, The differences are subtle and going to be which one feels better and produces the best numbers.
They both weigh about the same, but the MAX has a stiffer tip and higher torque than the Speeder so (on a robot), will launch lower and spin (even though torque is higher) will be a hair lower as well due to the tip being that much stiffer. The MAX is less counter balanced than the PRO so swingweight will be 1 heavier. I would contact your fitter and ask if the Speeder was included in your fitting - if it was a Titleist Thursday, the fitter did have both shafts.

    Thanks Steve, Cathi.
I'm going to hit them back to back at an upcoming session and do the comparison. I know I did not hit the PRO (yes, it was a Titleist Thursday event) at the fitting.
On paper, they seem similar. Realistically, any variance is most likely due to me.

    Appreciate your input.
