  1. I am trying to decide on what shaft I would put on a 917 D3 I plan to purchase. I presently play a 909 D3 with a 60 gram stiff Voodoo shaft. I am 65 yrs. old and my swing speed is 95 mph. Is torque important ? My thoughts are ; Rogue Silver 60 Stiff , Diamana 60 Stiff, or Mitsubishi Kuro Kage LE Tini 60 . Can anyone provide some advice ?

  2. You should go get a fitting at your local retailer. You also may want to try the Rouge MAX shaft as well. They will be able to fit you with the right shaft and club, because the D2 may be the one for you.

See a Titleist certified fitter and they will let you try a number of different shafts until they find one that is right for you. I am 70, play a 915D2 11* and he fitted me with a Aldila Rogue Black 70. Am considering going to the Titleist Thursdays when they resume in May to get a fitting for the 917D2s. The are forgiving and you can work the ball. I can hit a baby draw when I need one. My 915 driver is a 9.5 but I set it a 11* to get more height and less spin and my distance is between 230-250 and makes it easy to hit from the short grass. The key to go to a certified fitter, not a retail clerk and you really need to get on that Trackman. Cheers, Chuck.....
  4. Torque is important as it relates to dispersion as well as feel...the lower the number the tighter it will feel and the lower the dispersion of shots.

Check to see if they have a Titleist Thursday in your locality. They will fix you up without any guesswork.

Otherwise a local fitter can do the same.

The diamana 60 & kuro kage 60 will both feel softer & launch/spin higher than the Rogue Silver. Torque is important factor on mishits, it's best to determine torque needed based on center face contact. I have played the Kuro Kage Silver TINI 60 in my 915 D3 (came with rogue silver 60) and can tell you it launches higher yet still has some run on the ball, nice softer feel (compared to Rogue) still have shaft as back-up when feeling weaker.
