Was lucky enough to get the call form Mike DePaolo and was invited to the Oceanside facility to be fit for the 917 Driver. Upon arrival I was greeted by the staff and given the tour of the TPI gym, Iron Byron ball testing room and the wedge and short game facility. Fitter Lucas Bro took my 913 D2 and it was off to the long game area. There wasn't a blade of grass out of place. My old set up was 913D2, 9.5@C2, Graphite Design BB 7X 45".
New driver: 917D2, 8.5@B2, Diamana White D+ Ltd 80TX Tip 1" 44". Draw SureFit CG, D6 Swing Weight.
Going from 9.5 to 8.5 my overall spin was reduced by 375 rpm. Increase on 8 yards and 19 yards total with the shorter and heavier shaft. landing angle improved by reducing land angle from 43 to 39degrees.
My take away was not knowing or thinking I was doing better by self-fitting was pure lunacy. The ball seemed to stay on the face longer and rolled out a lot longer than the 913. Id say take advantage of the Titleist facilities on both coasts, hitting new Pro V1X's and seeing real time info from Trackman was invaluable.
Thanks to the TT staff!
