Another Reason for Fitting!!

    I went to a Titleist Thursday fitting and decided to book back-to-back time slots for a driver and wedge fitting. The driver fitting was good and confirmed what I thought. But, the wedge fitting was a SHOCKER! After five swings with my SM5 60 wedge, the fitter asked me to take a look at the Tracman screen. He pointed out that my balls had only 3,000 spin rpm's and that after flying 60 yards they rolled another 9 yards (27')! Basically, I was hitting knuckle balls. Five swings with a new wedge - 6,950 rpm's 60 yards carry and 1.5 yards of roll. Wow!

    My fitting at the McLean Center in Texas was similar. Kyle Cronkright, the Titleist guy there really dialed me in. My new wedges have a lot more bounce. Kyle said the goal was to get me to one hop and stop, not roll forward or spin back. I fire at flags now. Full shots better. Chipping and little knockdown shots from off the green better, too. I had been fitted for irons and woods my previous two sets of clubs, but never wedges. Quite the eye opener.

    Everything else the same? SM5 vs SM6 - same shafts, same bounce, etc? If so that's a great improvement. If there are other differences I'm curious as to which one gave you the most improvement.

    I just did one two weeks ago, (hopefully arriving soon) but yeah it just had such a nice, sweet feel. Could tell the difference between my old vokey and the new ones.

    Can't beat being custom fit, especially a Titleist custom fitting. The guys here at McGuirks in Ireland are the best

    Wow, amazing results. Definitely looking forward to the Titleist demo day at my club, need to get my wedges situation sorted.

    interesting been fit for driver, irons, fairways and woods but never wedges
