Has anyone been fitted into or swapped out their shafts for some graphite love? I was thinking of putting the 110 Recoils into my 716 AP2's for a little added club head speed, as well as a bit easier on the arms.

Anyone have any thoughts on them? Or already have them in their irons?

I currently have the PX pxi 5.5 shafts in there now. Don't mind them, just wanted some added distance. (as usual right ... don't we all?)

    Thanks

Not everyone gets faster with light clubs. The magazines that test a lot of equipment with average golfers find that it is about equal that some do better actually going heavier as going lighter. Lighter can affect your tempo. Titleist lists the 110 as low-mid flight and the pxi 5.5 as a mid flight. Unless you launch too high now, you may lose distance. Definitely try one before changing the whole set.

I would test them with those shafts if you haven't at a Titleist Thursday event or something similar with a certified Titleist fitter.

I have Recoil 95 F4 in my AP2s and love them! I was fit by a certified Titleist fitter and explained to him what I wanted. I tried a slew of steel and graphite shafts without looking at the shaft before hitting. He would just hand me a club (label down) and ask me to hit some shots. It came down to two shafts and after hitting a few more shots with each we decided which shaft felt better to me and what the numbers said. It was a clear winner that the Recoils were the one!

    Thanks for the replies guys!

I do hit a high ball with my current setup. I was hoping to find something that would give me the best of both worlds ... more boring trajectory & more distance.

I have gone to a Titleist Thursday, but that was for the driver back a few months ago. Guess I have to go back now for irons. HA!

When you schedule, be sure to ask to have that shaft available. It's listed as exotic and may not be available in a standard mix of shafts. TT can loan almost any approved shaft for a one-off fitting.
  6. Going for a fitting next month - going to try the AP2's with the True Temper XP 95 shaft - these might be a good option before migrating to graphite?
    All the best.

I already have the XP 95's in my 3 & 4 iron of the set. Got them specifically for the ease of the higher launch in the longer irons. I still don't play a hybrid ... I don't know why but ....
