Is my driver face closed

  1. I play have the 915 Driver. This is my 4th year playing golf. My typical miss is a slice or a push. My driver setting is A2. I find that when I close my club face I hit the ball well. My drives range from 260-275 and higher if the wind is right :-). However as I am a student of the game (yearly lessons) I don't want to play golf with a closed club face. I typically score low 100's or mid 90's ... trying to crack 80's this summer.

While playing with my driver settings I begin to think that perhaps my clubface is square and not closed based upon the A2 setting which changes the face and shaft angle.

    Can you confirm.

I have similar problems. Slice/push are when the club face is open/closed to the path of the swing. In tempo, my club path is down the target line and I generally have the club face square to path. I can increase club head speed, but my tendency is to pull the club path out to in. The best I can hope for is a straight push. Slice and hook are ever present. Your best fix is to work with an instructor on your swing path to minimize damage. The adjustments on the driver won't fix a true flaw, just tweaks to minor tendencies.

From my experience, I have a natural draw swing (in/out). When I don't release I tend to block the ball. I'm a very mechanical person and when I bring the club back I generally swing through on the same path. Sometimes I get real handsy and the snap hook happens. I don't change my settings to more draw or fade.

As Don mentioned, "Your best fix is to work with an instructor on your swing path to minimize damage. The adjustments on the driver won't fix a true flaw, just tweaks to minor tendencies."
