I was also lucky enough to be given the opportunity by team Titleist to be fitted for a set of 718's. I also arrange for a wedge fitting to be carried out while I was there. As such the whole visit lasted two hours. The experience was great, I was fitted by Dan who was very knowledgeable and really drew on his experience to make the fitting process interesting and enjoyable. I had gone to the fitting determined to be 'pigeon holed' into AP3s. I am a pretty good iron player saw my self as an AP2 candidate. However, I actually preferred the look of the AP3, and after hitting numerous head and shaft combinations preferred the feel of the AP3's too. I am sure there are purists out there cringing at that comment. My old clubs are forged and the AP3s didn't feel that different. The changes will take a bit of getting used to though. The lofts are exactly one club stronger than my current set plus the technology then adds another half a club of distance.

The wedge fitting was interesting heading out to the practice area and hitting a range of different shots. A discussion around how the clubs would fit into my set and how the bounce of each club would work was very helpful.

We decided on the following set up for my irons. AP3 3 – PW, AMT White S400 Standard Length, 1° Flat.

The make up for my wedges is going to be. SM6 48° made 1° weak, 54°, 58° AMT White S300 Standard Length 1° Flat

I would recommend to everyone to get a proper fitting done when looking for new clubs. I understand that the location might make a National Fitting Centre a non starter, however there are other options available, including club pros and golf stores have branded fitting days.
