I went from TT S300 in my old AP1's to graphite about 2 years ago. Didn't like Kuro Kage and ended up with another company's irons. Really loved the transition to graphite. Even felt okay chipping around the greens. Just got fitted and ordered my set of 718 T-MB's in Tensei Pro Red Graphite. Hope to have them soon. Still will play steel in my Vokey SM6's. I am a short hitter and not getting any longer at age 59. Graphite gives me a few more yards and seems to be a little less tough on my body. My handicap card says 8 but I think it should say 12. Post most of my scores on a pretty short golf course.

Thanks Dale. I am similar age, a 10 handicap, and also unfortunately don't hit it long. Interesting that you could make the graphite with T-MB irons work for you. I am going to try that combo.

Definitely went into the fitting thinking AP1 but he had me try the T-MB and i was hooked. Better feel and nice high ball flight. Since i don't generate a lot spin, the higher flight should help me hold the greens. I actually went to two fittings to make sure this was best for me. I know there is a Titleist set up right for you. Just trust TrackMan and what you and your professional fitter comes up with. Oh, and hoping to update the pic at St. Andrews in 2019.

I'm 67 and no threat for a long-ball competition. Had the 716 AP1 in the KK A-flex. Never got comfortable with the club weight. On a lark (and hoping the 716s were as good as it gets) went to a TT. The AP3 in the TT AMT-Red (R) beat out the 718 AP1 with the AMT and the Tensi-Red. I got 7-P. After being delighted with the AP3s, will work with a fitter for a 6I replacement. Will be looking at T-MB and H1 in addition to AP3. Being LH, I can only compare 7I to 7I and will need to extrapolate to compare to the H1.
Not that the AMT-Red is a better shaft than the Tensi-Red but for my swing it works better. You really need to make the fitter work all potential options. To note, this is the first metal shaft iron since I got serious about golf 8 years ago. The lines between graphite and metal have blurred over time.

Since 2014 I went to graphite (UST Recoils specifically). I'm playing to an 11 at the moment & I came from playing KBS Tour 90's. Recoils served me well to help transition from the harshness of steel, but still get all the benefits of graphite. The modern graphite irons play just like a steel shaft imo. If you are looking I would start with Recoil, Aerotech, or Programs (matrix)

Right now I have the 718 AP3 with Aerotech Steelfiber i95. They play a touch stiffer than my Recoil 95 F4 (stiff), but have helped with dispersion and spin way better than the Recoils.

I'm 79 and started playing golf in 1957. I'm up to a 10 handicap. Age has caught up to me. Which is why this spring I put 716 AP1s with Kuro Kage reg flex 63 gram graphite shafts in my bag. I had 714 AP1s with XP 95 shafts. 32 gram lighter graphite is noticeably easier to swing. Kuro Kage is a tip weighted shaft so Titleist is able to achieve the same swing weight as steel without adding weight to the head. Keeping the total weight of each iron as light as possible without loosing that great Titleist head feel is very important to me. I've gained about 5 to7 yards with the Kuro Kage shafts. But more importantly I haven't lost any accuracy.
