Grips are kind of a personal thing. Everyone is looking for what feels right in their hands and what they are looking to achieve from the grips. Personally , I have been using GolfPride MCC 4 on my clubs. They wear out kind of quick with excessive use, but feel great when new and tacky.

100% agree. I suggest going into a golf shop and going into the used section. Look for the newer good brand grips and try swinging with them. All about feel and what you like best.

WOW...grips are the most personal part of a club, they are the point where you and your clubs connect. What I like may not be what you like, so I would hate to make a recommendation for a grip that may not be your preference. If you have any kind of golf shops by you, go in and check out all the grips. Find the type that feels the best to you!

Hi Mick, I've used the Golf Pride Tour Velvets for years and found those to be as good as any, however this year I've fitted Golf Pride MCC PLUS 4 ALIGN GRIPS to my clubs with the exception of my Vokey wedges where I've fitted Golf Pride MCC PLUS 4 standard grips, as I wanted to engage my right hand grip more and thought the thicker lower part of the Plus 4 grip might help!
Of the two I prefer the standard MCC Plus 4 without the alignment stripe and I'll fit those to all my clubs next time I change my grips.

I agree with Barry. Find a grip that feels comfortable to you. Some like wraps, other like corded grips. My local shop has them all on display for testing.

I have always used the GolfPride grips on my clubs over all other brands and have been playing the MCC +4 for a few years a love them. Have even changed my putter grip to GolfPride. I prefer the mid size grips, am a senior and have large hands. I get good wear from mine. Keep them cleaned and wear a quality glove. Play three to four days a week in hot and humid conditions along the coast of South Carolina.

What you like the feel of best! It is a personal preference. I have the Golf Pride MCC 4 Grey on my 718 AP2's.

Does the MC Plus 4 on your 718 AP2 throw off swing weight at all? I believe stock grip on 718 is Tour Velvet 360 White, not sure how far off in grams they are?

Mick, my only add to the great advise above would be to try and match your entire set as much as possible, not just your irons.

Agree with Dale. Same grip on my driver as on my wedge.
Also using the GolfPride Tour SNSR putter grip. Love the hammer grip feel.

MCC + 4 is long lasting, grips in the rain, and is soft enough for comfort. I have not felt anything that compares. Choose what feels right to you!

Don't forget to factor in grip diameter too. You will want to match your grips to your hand size and how much hand action you like to use in your swing.

Grips are so personal. Personally I like cord grips and have the Super Stroke TX1 grips on my clubs. They are great in rain and with sweaty hands. They are also cheaper than the MCC. I would recommend them.

Your best to buy a 1 or 2 different grips ....put it on your 7 - 8 iron....and take a swing.....currently playing with Golfpride CP-2

I recommend Golf Pride Tour Velvet (white). This is what is being used on the new 718 irons. On your wedges I would recommend the Vokey Tour Velvet grips.

I'm a cord grip person as well, but note that cord grips typically feel firmer and are rougher on 'soft' hands. They also will cause the glove to wear a bit faster. Size is important; I use undersize grips and wear size medium Players gloves. Most people seem to prefer round grips, but I find that properly installed grips with ribs (or maybe the new Align style) help me grip the club more consistently.

At the end of the discussion, what feels best to your hands is the best grip for you!

Definitely personal preference. I have the Golf Pride Tour Velvet BCT 580 ribbed on my 716 AP2’s. I have used that grip for years. Good luck in your search for something that suits you.

feel is so important, like said differs for everyone. currently have golfpride cp-2...i love the feel of it in my hands....feedback is ok; look at conditions you play in...wet? and choose acordingly....some play better wet weather..some do not.

I'm gaming AP2 716's as we speak; awesome club choice.

I got pretty fussy about my grips this past summer, even took it so far as to buying a gripping station. I trial and errored quite a few different things, but always kept coming back to standard Golf Pride MCC's (the white/black look awesome on these clubs, by the way).

I would personally stay away from the MCC+4 hype; I was ignorant at first and was led to believe that they were for larger hands; this is not the case. I basically gave myself a slice with these and they quickly came off.

In my overall opinion, fresh and clean grips, whatever your choice, is a great play. I expect to replace 1-2x a year, and I'm using the Lamkin Gripes wet wipe product weekly.

The clubs don't necessarily make the player, but I do feel equipment that performs it's very best is vital to performing YOUR very best.

Golf pride multi compound for me

So many great grips available, however, I too would recommend the Golf Pride MCC Plus4- this grip simulates 4 additional wraps of tape for the lower hand and I can't believe how much this grip relaxes my lower hand- relaxed and secure. In the past I always preferred the Lamkin full cord grips and just couldn't get the same confidence in Golf Pride corded grips until this grip (corded upper hand only) - also excellent if you don't wear a glove
