As a guideline I believe 1/2" reduction in length usually equates to a reduction of 3 swingweight points.

1/2 inch = 3 swing weight points you will approximately C9.5- I don't think you will feel a difference- you can gain back 1 point if you can reduce your grip weight by 9 grams.

Hi Stefan, Shortening your shaft by 1/4" will reduce the swingweight approximately 1-1.5 swingweights depending on the balance of the shaft cut. We have found in our testing that not too many players can tell the difference in 1 swingweight.  Grips work the same way - approximately 4-5 grams of grip weight will also change a swingweight 1 swingweight depending on the balance of weight along that grip (length of grip and where the weight of that grip is balanced)

Stefan, also instead of reducing the grip weight 4 - 5 grams you could if you want add 2 grams to the head weight to increase the swing weight 1 point. Also the shorter shaft will reduce the effective playing lie by 1/2 degree so if that becomes an issue (not likely) I would suggest you have your club (s) bent up 1 degree

1/2" length reduction = 3 swingweight points
Grip change is 5g for one swingweight point.
Head weight is 2g for one swingweight point.
Shaft change is 9g for one swingweight point

Most people can barely detect 3 swingweight points.

910D2 driver with 44" length, Bassara 50g shaft, 12g headweight and 43g grip is D1.

913F 17* fairway with 42" length, Bassara 60g shaft, 14g headweight, 43g grip is D2.

910H 27* hybrid with 60g shaft, 38.5" length, 43g grip and 9g headweight is D2.

I use oversize grips on my long clubs and midsize with the irons and wedges. The standard rubber grip is 52g, and oversize is about 67g. That is a 3 swingweight point loss. An oversize Excel grip is 43g, almost 2 point gain.

The Dri Tac Lite are no longer made. They are 27g.
