Unless you specified a swing weight It is quite possible they wouldn't adjust the swing weight- the additional 1/2 inch would add 3 swing weight points making them D5. I would contact your fitter to discuss any possible adjustments and Titleist to make any the adjustments to maintain your warranty

Hi Kurt, Joseph is right. We would not make any adjustments to swingweight unless a swingweight was specified. We don't really know who the clubs are for and can't presume swingweight. We would recommend having your fitter watch you hit them and the two of you can make the decision together as to how you want to proceed. Going from std length to 1/2" over is an adjustment in itself and changing heads is another.
We would be happy to have them brought in to make sure they are within tolerance for 1/2" over (which is D5 +/-1 with a standard grip and standard wraps). If they are, but still feel too heavy, we can take them apart and see what can be done to possibly lighten them.

Cathi, I have AP3 as well with 0.5 inch short shaft. Since the shaft is cut short, the balance measured is C8 now. I added lead tape on the head so it is D1.5 now. Is there any way you can make the head heavier so that I don't need multiple layers of lead tape?

Hi Tomo, We will not be able to add enough weight to that head to get it 3.5 swingweights heavier. We might be able to get it 1-2 swingweights depending on the original build, shaft, grip, wraps. Another way to add swingweight would be to use a very light grip - that would change the balance of weight and add swingweight.
We recommend that anyone ordering clubs and planning to have them cut short check prior to see what swingweight is achievable and have us do the cutting and swingweight adjustment during the build.

If I order the club with 0.5 short shaft from Titleist, do you adjust the balance by adding the head weight, or by adjusting grip, wrap etc?

Also as you mentioned above if you are adding 1-2 swingweight on my current club, how would you do it? Is it possible to add at least some weight to the head? I dont want to change the grip

Hi Tomo, We will not presume to know what swingweight a player wants when a pro shop orders a shorter iron if the shop does not specify a swingweight, It could be for a young junior who wants a light swingweight or a stronger shorter player. We depend on the player and the shop to let us know if there is a specific swingweight they are trying to achieve. If you have your pro shop custom order the irons, and he/she specifies a swingweight, we will let your pro know right away whether that is achievable or not. It may not be achievable without changing the grip. We have both heavier heads as well as weight that can be added when we are building a set of irons, but, it depends on shaft, flex, length, grip and grip wraps.
In your case, since the irons are already built, we cannot add enough weight to your current head to move it 3.5 swingweights. The grip is the easiest way to do that at this point. Otherwise, as you have done, lead tape is the other option.

Nothing wrong with lead tape to increase head weight and swing weight. Arnie’s clubs were covered with it. Easy to remove if you change your mind. You can also put the weight anywhere on the head you want.
My situation is not fixable to go the other way when the heads are too heavy for the feel I am looking for. The only solution is to grind weight away from the head. Titleist is fixing mine now..

Got them back at D2 and love them. High draw. At D6 i was fading everything.
Thanks Titleist. My 3 Stealth Black SM7 wedges came today too. 48-10, 54-14 , and 58-04. Same shafts. If they play half as good as they look, I’m in business
