How to properly align grip after changing 917D2 loft (and therefore face angle)

    Question for TT Club Concierge or other members of Team Titleist: After increasing loft on a 917D2 driver (thus closing club face a little bit when clubhead is grounded), should a non-360 degree grip be installed where the center line (or logo) on the grip is slightly left of center of shaft or logo on shaft (looking down the shaft to the clubhead) so that when one grips the club using the center line (or logo) of the grip, the club face will be squared (thus resulting in the increased effective loft) instead of closed (resulting in no increase in effective loft and closed face thus low hooking shots)? Sorry if above is not very clear but tried to describe the question as best I could. Thanks.

    I definitely try to use 360's as much as i can on adjustable clubs. I don't want to see where my hands are, i want to rely on feel. That said, as long as you stay away from the "ribbed" grips, just set the club on the ground and set you hands without really looking at the logo. The adjustments you made to add loft should get you where you need to be. If you think you need a reference, use a sharpie to mark a spot that you want align against.

    I apologize as I guess my question was not super clear. I read that if one makes adjustments to the SureFit Hosel to increase the loft, what happens is if you simply ground the club, the club will still have a same loft as original loft of club at the A1 setting but with a 0.5 to 1.5 degrees closed face instead of the original 0.5 degrees open face at A1. If you want to have the increased loft per your new SureFit Hosel setting, one must open the club face a little so that the club face is squared instead of closed. To do this you must move your grip slightly to the left of center (looking down at the club). So my question is, whether you use a 360 grip or non-360 grip, once you find your ideal setting, should you install the grip in such a way that the dot (on a 360 grip) or the logo (on a non-360 grip) is slightly left of center in order to have the effective loft you're looking for? Thanks.

    That all is personal preference. Some people put the logo on the back so it's not seen at all..
    My woods have all been changed to C3 thus the grip lable is somewhere on the side. I pay no attention and it doesn't bother me.

    Just throw the grip on with the logo in the 12 o'clock position. That is if you want the grip straight in the position that shaft is set at now.

    I understand what you're asking and feel it's all a matter of preference. Whichever way helps your game the best, is what you should do.

    Personally, I do not use a 360 grip on my driver, I use the GP MCC+4 Align and I have it setup to be square. That way, I know what works for me day to day. But, I also do not have any need to change my settings.

    If I think there is ANY chance of changing settings, I will put a 360 grip on. Once I have it where I want it, I put a line on the shaft or on tape for a wood when changing grips, so I am sure it is exactly how I had it. (The permanent marker line comes off easily with grip solvent when I'm done).
