I have a 917D2 which was "fit" for me at a local Golf Store, however when playing around on a TrackMan with a different driver I am getting a better smash factor, and distance. I tried changing the setting of the head of my club without much improvement, so I am thinking it is more down to the shaft on my club.

I wanted to know if the Titleist Club Fittings will be able to help me find the best shaft for me or would I be better going to a club fitter with a bigger range of shafts to trial?

Try to find a certified Titleist fitter who can get you in the correct shaft and has a wide variety of them. There was a gentlemen on here who got fit for clubs by a certified fitter and went thru 10-15 shafts. Good luck!

Thanks Jerry, I wasn't sure if the Titleist club fitting sessions were suitable just to look at the shaft or if it was for a full club fit.
There is an independent custom club fitter nearby who stocks 50+ shafts but charges for the custom fitting session. The original fitter had a max of 10 shafts and I only tried 3, so don't think it was too technical.

I think that's the best solution to ensure that the shaft is perfectly suited to my swing is to spend time trying multiple types.

The reps that come with the Titleist Thursdays bring a wider selection of shafts than the stock shafts that many of the retails outlets carry. The 917 drivers can be Ferrari's when tuned properly. I liken it to going to a retail sporting goods outlet with inventory on the floor to promote - sort of like taking Ferrari for a tuneup to a dept. store auto center when you should only let them change the oil. You should look for a Thursday or an Advance Fitting Center or even a good pro shop. The shaft in my D2 is not stock and not exotic, but I gained 20 yards over my 913. Proper fit was the primary reason.

I am confident that if you go tho a Titleist Thursday Fitting (it's free), they'll be happy to test different shafts for you.

I would definitely recommend doing a Titleist Thursday event. The people that do these events are highly trained and can get you in the perfect shaft for you and they are very knowledgeable about what works well together. You can test as many shafts as you want and they will have a trackman on site to get your info. Best of all its completely free! great experience overall!
