Over the winter in Ohio, I determined that my 14 year old son needed a new set of Irons, Hybrids and wedges. I absolutely wanted to get him properly fit for his new clubs. There are indoor options in Ohio or I could wait until May sometime to get an outdoor fitting. I remembered how much I liked John Dal Santo and his fitting style. I emailed John and found out that he hosts Titleist Thursday events at a facility in Indianapolis Indiana. I am about 4 hours east of his location. That didn't stop me, I scheduled an appointment for April 5 for my son and one appointment for me. I took the day off work and my son took the day off school to get to the fitting at the Golf Club of Indiana. When we got to the location, we were greeted warmly by both John and also as an added bonus, Tony Day, Indiana PGA Instructor of the Year (2013 AND 2017). John made sure to work with my son, ask questions, listen to my son's feedback in general. We were at an indoor facility, but actually hitting Pro V1 X balls out on to the range where we could see the flight of the ball, not just a simulation. Now, once we got the irons and hybrids figured out, we started the wedge fitting to complement the selected 718 AP2 irons. We actually went outside on the range so that John could better see how my son Tyler performed on real grass, so that he could accurately assess the bounce configuration for his SM7 Jet Black wedges. Both my son and I could not have been happier with the entire process! We talked about it the entire 4 hour drive home and then for the following days. I am a dedicated, Titleist only player, and I am confident that my son will be the same for life!
