Light weight steel shafts for the 718 AP-3 irons

    Hello, I am currently using the cally XR-OS irons with a light weight graphite shaft, the Mitsubishi Fubuki AT 55 with a weight of 63 grams in regular flex. I find that I can get a much better feel for the club head during my down swing when I swing a heavier steel shaft of around 95 grams, however, it tires me quickly. Also, I seem to be more accurate and get better ball compression with the 95 grams steel shafts. I was wondering if I could get a new set of the 718 AP-3 irons fitted with the Nippon Steel NS Pro Zelos 7 which weigh around 74 grams in the R flex or the hybrid graphite-steel shaft, the Steelfiber i70 in the R flex manufactured by Aerotech shafts, which weigh around 70 grams in the tapered profile. Can I get a custom fit with these 2 options in and around Birmingham in the UK or West Palm Beach in Florida in the US. Though New Delhi in India is the most convenient for me, I have been unable to find any Titleist recommended fitter in my hometown. Any advice would be much appreciated. Thank you.

    Unfortunately you are generally limited to only the shafts available in the Custom Options Booklet. I've included the link below so you can look at what is available.

    Not sure about fitters in the UK or India, but you can definitely get fit in the West Palm area.

    Assuming they have a .355 tapered fit, you'd have to work with Titleist to see if they would special order the shafts, as these are not in the custom catalog. I switched from 65 graphites in AP1 to the AMT-Red shafts (95-105 g) for the same reason when I ordered my AP3s. Carrying a full bag is much more of an issue than the 30 g per shaft and I was able to get fit/try the combination before purchasing. The "custom/exotic" shafts would be purchased sight unseen.

    The lighter the shaft the more difficult to get into the normal swing weight range- maybe go a little heavier- the NS Pro 850 is 87 grams.
