Will Titleist ever offer more than one stock iron shaft option without the up charge? I agree with getting properly fit for clubs, but at $162 a club (AP2) and then a possible up charge for a properly fitted shafts that can get pretty expensive real quick!

By my count, Titleist offers 23 different shafts for irons at no upcharge. I think there is one in there that will fit you well.

Click the box to see shafts only offered at no upcharge. It is extensive.

Yeah there are ton of shafts. Who is telling you about not having shaft upgrades as I wonder if they are taking you for ride.

My take from multiple fittings is the buyer had a hand in suggesting fitting an extra cost shaft. If there isn't a good fit among the 23 series Doug mentioned, you'd have the option to try an upcharge model and decide if the value was there.

Please understand that the up-charge is not to gouge buyers. It's to cover small batch ordering where Titleist doesn't get the volume to keep inventory in stock or times where shaft manufacturers have very expensive shafts. Like Doug said, they have a pretty extensive inventory of options that don't require an up-charge.

I appreciate all the responses gents, but unfortunately I did not fall into the category of the offered stock shafts . When I was fitted for my current irons they recommended the KBS Tour C-Taper X-flex which is a popular shaft, but did come with a uncharge. The only comparable stock shaft offered was the Dynamic Gold X100.

Very interesting debate on what is the best shaft ... People have questioned the stock graphite in my AP1's which is something I trusted the fitter (not Titleist) to recommend. There's an interesting video with Sir Nick Faldo on you tube being fit for shafts by miz who recommend 3 shafts to try interesting on how he made his decision.
