    Hi everyone!

Well, I went to a Titleist Thursday in late June with the idea of trying some of the new 718 Irons. In particular, I went to try the new AP2's and the MB's.

So after the fitting, it was suggested to me by the regional Titleist fitter that I should consider using the new Nippon 880 AMC chrome shaft in a regular flex. Of course, he also suggested that I could also continue using the KBS Tour shafts as I had been playing them in my current set of AP2's and have been familiar with their characteristics and how to load the shaft, etc.

So, I am wondering if any of my fellow TT'ers have used or play the Nippon 880 AMC shafts and how they are finding it in terms of performance.

For example, do you find it easy to load the shaft in your swing? Do you find that the dynamic launch of the irons make it easier to get the ball airborne with a high trajectory? Are you able to play shots with them that allow for a nice angle of descent in the 45+ degree range?

I hope there are some of you out there that have some personal experiences to share!

  2. Dino, been going through the same thing. Did not try the Nippon but have tried the AMT Red. Spec's are close. AMT is a few grams heavier. Ball gets up very easy and really sounds great coming off the AP3. Give that one a try.

Thanks for the feedback. Yes, we tried the AMT shafts but it just did not perform as well as the Nippon 880 AMC shafts. I understand that these shafts are new (newer) to Titleist so perhaps there is not too many players with them yet.

I might just go back and try a follow up fitting session with them again.
