Fairway Wood shafts

    Hello all,

    I am going for a fitting (probably in December when it's too cold to play outside). Just wanted to know what everyone else games in their fairway woods.

    I'm currently gaming the Project X Even Flow Blue in my driver. Anyone else gaming this shaft? -Anyone match their driver shaft and fairway wood shafts? -Anyone play different shafts between 3w and 5w?

    I'm not in the same class as you (old timer's disease) but we ended up with the Tensei Blue R in the driver. I use a 5W off the deck and needed a little more launch, so it is the Kuro Kage. Using a 4W for long par 3's or for short par 4's off of a tee, I could have gone with either but have the Kuro Kage. So by analogy, using the same shaft works depending on how well you generally hit fairway woods. I wouldn't purchase driver or FW without seeing the flight. Off of a mat would be misleading for me with the FW. So I'm a big fan of outdoor fittings off of turf.

    Don,
    I agree - I'm not big on hitting into a net with a trackman. I prefer outdoor fittings - unfortunately, none really available in my area. I guess my fitting will be the tell all. Thanks for your response.

    Your avatar lists NJ. There are multiple premier fitting locations in your area (see golf club Fitting in the header) . At the price of new clubs, it's worth the extra drive for a premier site to fit you with lots of shaft options and tracking equipment. Buying through one of these sites and the fitting fee will be reduced or included. For those of us north of the deep South, Titleist Thursdays have fled with the song birds until spring.
    If there is a premier site near you that is a private club, most will do fittings for non-members.

    I have the same shaft in my new TS3 and my 917F3 3 wood. Both have the Fujikura Motore Speeder VC Tour Spec X-Stiff which I was custom fit for. The TS3 has the 7.2 weight and the 3 wood has the 8.2 weight.

    There is something consistent when using each club that they look and feel the same but this is the first time i have had matching shafts in these clubs.

    The best thing to do is to get custom fit and go by the numbers. If a different shaft was better in my TS3 I would have gone for that but it wasn't so I have matching.
