I was out in LV for a business trip last week. Time to sneak in a round of golf was not certain so I didn't bring my clubs. Did manage to sneak out and the rental was an M2 set. Typical of TM clubs off the rack fo me, the less loft the more fade (driver was an outright slice) I had. Finally played using the 5 Iron off the tee. That was only 160 yards but I could keep it in the fairway. I'm sure a good fitter could have improved the results, but finding out that Titleist encourages custom fittings over off the rack inventory was an accidental but literally game changing discovery for me (8 years ago). I'd forgotten how much off the rack can hurt a player's game.

Which is worse, playing poorly with ill fitting rentals or not playing at all?

....Noted... If I didn’t have to wait until April to play at home, I’d have enjoyed the 19th hole more!

I had gone to golftec for an iron fitting but I wasn’t aware that they weren’t allowed to do Titleist irons fittings if it was on artificial turf... I wanted to try the new t series

That seems odd, Club Champion does them on indoor mats and fits for Titleist.

I thought it was weird too but after looking around they didn’t carry any Titleist equipment and even on the Titleist website they don’t recommend my local golftec as a fitting place...

The other places Titleist is a private club, a club that isn’t helpful and Dick’s Sporting good which uses an indoor simulator.
