  1. I will be getting fitted for new irons next weekend! Looking forward to putting new T-100’s in the bag. I am debating about going with T-100S vs T-100. My current irons have lofts similar to the S and I want to keep the additional length. But, my current gap wedge is 50 degrees. The gap wedge in the S is 48. My Vokeys start at 54 degrees. Is 6 degrees too much of a gap? Should I deloft the 54 to 53?

There are pro's not named PM that carry as few as 2 wedges in addition to the PW. Their gaps are all in the 6 degree range. If you like your Vokey 50, just get the PW. If it turns out the 43-50 degrees has too much of a distance gap, you can move one or both clubs 1 degree closer. The number of degrees at 4 made sense when a PW was 48 degrees and the recommendation was 52-56-60. But what you really need is the ability to hit all your distances with 12-15 yards in between. Adjust the wedges to suit w/o regard to degrees.

Trust your fitter. He will determine your new distances, gapping and identify the best model for you. I learned that going in with an open mind often results in a better result.

As far as wedge gapping, it’s all about hitting your numbers. The new tech is going to give you extra yards so don’t judge distance expectations on loft alone. You’ll hit them differently. I know it is extra cost, but you might find it less painful to just replace the Vokes with new rather than trying to adapt the old.
I learned that the hard way.
