    Hi there all

So when it comes to club fitting building etc I am a total novice who loves to experiment and tinker with clubs. Spent years helping local pro fitting grips, repairing shafts, the dead basics

Currently I have 712 cb irons fitted by Titleist with KBS C Taper 115 X shafts 4-pw

I want to experiment putting a KBS shaft in my Vokey sm6 50 degree wedge. Wanted to go 120g

Now the technical bit, I have a 6 iron KBS C Taper 120 shaft in a bucket of old shafts I have. Is there any way this can be stepped to fit somewhere in the region to fit in with the shafts I have.

What reading I have done I don’t think it’s possible but any advice would be much appreciated.

    Regards Ian

Each Tapered shaft in a set is made to a specific/discreet length to fit the various irons in a set. If you were to put a 6 iron shaft in the 4 iron that would be hard stepping 2 times and if you were to put the same shaft in an 8 iron that would be soft stepping 2 times. Thus, using the 6 iron KBS C Taper 120 shaft the Vokey wedge is actually soft stepping approx 5 times and would be much more flexible than a shaft normally used in a wedge. Using the 6 iron C Taper shaft in the Vokey wedge would not feel at all close to your current shafts.
