Turning 70, I wanted to see if my AP3’s could be improved. The T200 didn’t vary enough from the AP3 to move. Moving to the T300 got about a club length more. Then the T400. Got the best performance with the stock graphite shaft. I know the loft is jacked, but it still feels good getting 145 yards over the 123 with the AP3 for a 7 iron. I also have a T300 5 iron, and the T400 was still longer and easier to make contact.

The T400 won’t be for everyone but along with the TS1 I can see these keeping the game fun for me going forward (getting older).

That’s really great to hear, Don! I’m glad you were able to find the right fit for you to stay competitive and keep the game fun for yourself! Golf is a lifetime sport with thanks to the equipment we’ve been blessed with. I hope to be playing 18 holes of golf still when I’m 90!

Great Don! I'm hitting the Concept C16's and thinking of getting fit for the T400's. The C16's have a forged face and feel great. I understand that the T400's also have a forged face. How did the T400's feel compared to the T300's and other forged Titleist irons? Thanks.

I'm not aware that the T400 has a forged face. It does have technology from the Concept line, but Titleist didn't mention a forged face in the specifications, unlike the T200 that does. My goal was to get some more distance with minimal dispersion. So I didn't focus on feel. It was comparable to the T200 and definitely a better feel - and sound than the T300. I didn't have time for a T100 or a CNCPT (2018) so I can't compare to the 2016 Concept.

Thanks Don. I'm in the same boat...I need some additional distance. I plan to include the T400's when I am getting fitted.
  7. Just got my T400’s. When I went to get fitted, I was thinking of other club manufacturers. I’m 65 and feel I lost yardage. Trackman showed the T400’s gave me average of 1.5 club more distance but most important to me, they produced by far a higher launch than any other club head. Played about 15 rounds on new irons and I absolutely love the clubs. Was skeptical about the strong loft degrees but I get more distance and a lot more launch. Even love the wedges. Game changer for me.

Glad to hear your success. My set arrived coinciding with the State shutting down non-essential businesses like golf courses. Now can only stare at them until at least 24 April. Can't wait won't work - have to wait.

Congrats! I didn't think T400's were supposed to ship until 03/27?

The T400 is intriguing. I'm 67 with multiple issues in my spine that is robbing me of club head speed at an alarming rate. Currently playing C16 with Modus Pro tour 105 shafts. On a warm day I can still get reasonably good distance with them. However, on a day like today where it was cold and windy my ability to make a turn is diminished to where I can't hit them out of my own shadow. Once Titleist can open operations I plan to order a set in hopes of seeing results similar to what Don O saw in his fitting.

I ordered a demo 6 iron and it came in before the shutdown happened. I have a set of T300, so I've taken the demo 6 out and hit it next to my T300 5 iron--the longest iron in my bag. I got a few more yards out of the T400, maybe 10, and a very similar ball flight.

Since the T300 are so new, I'll stick with them for now. But if someone is looking for more distance while still maintaining a nice high ball flight, they should really give the T400 a look. They are noticeably larger in both the sole and top-line, neither of which really bothers me, but just know that's the case.

...Waited 2 whole days after the WI courses opened to try out the T400's. My best description is the loft provides a longer distance, and the T400 head provides more launch, so my 8 inch is at least as long as my previous AP3 7 iron but still launches/lands like the AP3 8 iron. It took a leap of faith to hit the 8 iron on a par 3 where the AP3 8 iron came up wet in a short hazard. They give me more options on what hybrids I need.

We started with the NP95 and AMT-Red in the T200/300, then with the T400. Then the R and A flex Fubuki MV shafts in the T400. Then back to the T300 with the R flex Fubuki MV. I've finally accepted that at 70 I won't be stronger next year than last (living that delusion for the last 10 years). The Fubuki was also the best performer in the T300 although the T400 was still better. While I resisted the 50 graphite going in, I still had to go with the fitter and the results.
Always, your results may vary but follow the results. I had obtained a T300 5 iron with the NP-95 and it outperformed my AP3 with AMT-Red to almost 1.5 clubs over the AP3 6 iron. But the 7 iron T400 was still better than the 5 iron T300. I could have gone with T300 or even T200, but I can't afford to give up distance. Good luck finding your best setup.
