My Experience With 2 Separate Driver Fittings

Long story short the last 2 drivers I have gotten fitted for and purchased didn't work for me and I have now just gone and bought one off the shelf that I'm absolutely killing! I know very little about shafts and tip points etc, I just trusted that the fitters knew and would get me into the right thing. The first one I got fitted to about 3 years ago and they fit me into an exotic Stiff shaft that i way overpaid for...next I went to a different fitter and got fitted to a TS2 with a EvenFlow White X-stiff shaft a little over a year ago. I couldn't hit the broad side of a barn with either driver. So frustrated, I went to Edwin Watts a couple of weeks ago and bought a driver with a Regular shaft and took my TS2 in to show him and he couldn't believe someone recommended that for me. So now I've learned (the hard way) how important shafts are and getting the right one, but should I not rely on the fitters recommendation or did i just happen to have 2 bad experiences with fitters? Also my next question is how easy is it to change out the shaft in my TS2 to see if that fixes my issue because i also have a matching 3 wood with the same X-stiff shaft and i would like to try out a new shaft before buying a new one? Or do I just not worry about it and move on since I found another one that seems to be working and buy the matching 3 wood to the new driver? Thanks again for your help and if you made it this far through this long winded post :)

My only question is, were this fittings done by a Titleist Professional fitter or someone at a store?

The first was club champion and the second was at a local club. Not sure if they were titleist certified but they both sold titleist gear.

Agree. My first and last fitting was at a big box golfing store that fitted me with a 9.5 915 with a blue stiff shaft. At least it was a D2 and not a D3 On course I barely got the ball above the horizon. I will only get fit a Premier fitting location. Not so much for the selection, but for the expertise.
  5. I tend to go for a Titeist thursday fitting or a person that is authorized and trained by Titelist to do their fittings. As honestly if fit right you should be killing it with the TS2

First, I'm sorry to hear you had two terrible experiences with your fittings. Second, swapping out the shaft on your driver and fairway wood is easy, but the catch is you will need to swap out with a Titleist SureFit adapter equipped shaft. All Titleist drivers from the 910 series through TS series have the same adapter. The SureIt adapter for fairway woods have been the same from the 913 series through TS series (910 fairways are the odd man out). If you purchased a different brand of woods at E.W. the shafts installed will not fit your Titleist driver or fairway wood and may not be available for purchase through Titleist. A two parted suggestion: 1) go back to E.W. and see if they have a Titleist shaft similar to what you purchased that you can try outside at a range or for a round 2), find a qualified Titleist fitter near you and and set-up an appt, take your Titleist clubs and explain your issue and see what can be done.

I have been through a few different fittings ranging from smaller to larger big box golf shops, and Titleist demo days and fitters. The big box stores who say they are certified for Titleist fittings is like a box of chocolates - you never know what you're gonna get. I have met some very knowledgeable people at the stores and some who didn't have a clue what they were selling, and they all used simulators. Typically their simulators are set up once, and never re-calibrated or checked unless they break down. There is no substitute for the Titleist certified fitters and working outdoors. Lucky for me the Titleist rep in my area is not far from me and willing to set up an appointment if needed. It sounds like you already spent a lot of money on drivers so you may want to wait a year and then find a good recommended Titleist fitter and email them for a schedule of upcoming fittings. Take the time to get it done right. It's worth the money even to travel a bit to a good fitting location.
  9. I'd just get a similar shaft in the 3 wood and see how you go.

Try eBay you might get lucky
