  1. I’m having trouble finding an even to go to. I’d like to get a few rounds in with my new clubs. Is going to a “certified” retailer just as good as going to a Titleist Thursday?

In my personal opinion, no. A retailer will do a fitting indoors on a mat. You can't beat hitting in ground conditions in your area similar to the courses you play. Even most private clubs that offer Titleist fittings will take outside business. For the sale of set, it will vary, but almost all will reduce or eliminate the fitting fee. Surprisingly, the net charge for the irons will be the same or less than a retailer. Every major OEM vendor sets the price and places like Dick's are unable to undercut pro shops.

Titleist Thursdays have a wider selection of shafts with a fitter with more in-depth experience and there is no charge. So it is a good deal. The only other advantage is they have the full set of LH fitting heads, A good fitter at a pro shop will still be able to do a good job. Working with a local pro for a fitting can also be helpful as that person can also work with you on swing adjustments long term. Almost all pro shops will now use Flight Scope if not Trackman to correlate to the visual impact of hitting outdoors.

I am disillusioned at retailers as quality of knowledge generally did not extend past the brand of their personal clubs. Having a 20-something pushing me to Brand X blades was not catering to my needs.
  3. Ended up getting fitted at a local Golf shop. The salesman actually works for Titleist and set me up with a complete bag of new T100/S irons and Vokey wedges and TS3 Driver. He took me outside after fitting me inside and I must say that they cut through the grass with minimal resistance and each club was 5-10 yards further and much straighter than I hit my previous clubs. It was a fantastic experience and I couldn't be happier with my new clubs. I'm looking forward to getting them in a week. I'm very much looking forward to my first round with them!
