  1. So I have been fighting my new irons since they came in last September. Felt they were different from my fitting session. They were ordered at +1/2 inch long. I am sure that should be finished length. In searching for an answer out of the blue I decided to measure them to see if that could be it. I have discovered that I have a 40" 5 iron. Based on the T200 specs the stock 5 iron length is 38"s. It should be 38.5. Could they have missed by an inch and a half? All paperwork says order at +1/2" long. Thoughts.

You should take this up with your dealer and/or local Titleist rep if the dealer won't investigate. I'd expect the toe to (lie is off) be elevated. If they did get ordered as +2 instead of +1/2, someone should help you. Besides cutting the butt end, the head weight will likely need some adjustment if 1.5 inches is removed.

The lengths Titleist lists are before gripping so you would have to deduct the grip cap to get the actual over length measurement. The grip cap would be between 1/8" to 1/4" so assuming your club's grip is 1/4" and it was built to a specified swing weight the 1.25 inch difference would equate to 7.5 swing weight point, thus, when rebuilt to 38.5" your swing weight will be 7.5 points too low requiring 15 grams to be added to the head to offset the lost swing weight points. I would suspect Titleist would have to build from scratch- in any event they should take care of this issue- be sure to (re) specify the swing weight and lie adjustment from standard if desired- +1/2 inch = +3 swing weight points and 1 Degree upright in playing lie. Good luck!!

I didn’t have an issue with length, but all of my brand new T100s irons and two of my new SM8 wedges were not even close to the correct lie specs I ordered. I went to a fitter here in Dallas whom I trust and we checked each club after I hit them in the simulator. Specs were supposed to be 2 degrees up right and 1/2” over. The length was correct, but only 1 iron was even close in lie angle (close meaning off by .5 degrees). Some were standard, some were slightly flat some were 3+. Same with my wedges (ordered straight from Vokey and with custom stamping). I had to pay to have each iron adjusted to the correct lie angle after I custom ordered them. I still love my clubs, but having the completely wrong specs coming from the factory was disheartening. Also, when your lie angle is off like that, it made me question my alignment and swing since I had to adjusted aiming points when hitting an 8 vs my 7 since the 8 was standard lie and my 7 was 2.5 degrees upright. I just went to the demo day at my course and almost didn’t order a new tsi2 3 wood because I didn’t know if I could trust the build out and told the rep that as well after what I had to do to correct my irons and wedges. I said it might be better for me to go to my club fitter and have them build the 3 wood and driver since there’s a variation in quality control. So instead of paying $1200 for irons that should’ve been built to spec, I had to spend another $275 on top of it to fix the manufacturing errors. The bright spot was that after adjustments I can now aim at the correct target line and know the irons are accurate. Won’t be buying any more custom wedges or irons again unless thru my fitter.
