  1. Was fitting for new T200 irons with a 7 iron. My average spin was only 5000 but my landing(descent) angle was 44.3 degrees. Should I worry about the low spin or am I ok with the descent angle of 44.3?

  2. Range ball or Pro V1? Ideally you could benefit from a shade more spon which will help increase the land angle. AMT Red might be all you need to bring them both up, assuming you were using the AMT Black.

How far did you hit the 7 iron at the fitting and how close to your target line were you.......the numbers I am most concerned about are distances for course management and alignment, how close I am hitting to my intended target. If I hit my 7 iron 155 consistently I am happy, I know I can count on it...... with respect....

Hi SSchons, BirdieBarty here. Retired Tour Caddie since 2003.
Let me help you out of that bubble. To start off, you wrote you been fitted for the T200 series.
If you doubt your fitting sessions, re-schedule a fitting session by a professional Titleist dealer.

Over the years I have seen many amateurs starring blind on stats. Admit you are not playing on the PGA Tour on the highest level of playing golf. So expect numbers not even close to tour pro's.
You write you hit your 7 iron at 5000 RPM. If you compare yourself to the tourpro's you are on the low side. The average on the PGA Tour is at 7097 RPM with a 7 iron & the land angle is avg. about 50 degree.

I think you shouldn't worry about the numbers at all but change your perspective.
Again, this is just a moment.... in life... where your shots being recorded. Not every shot is the same, infact every shot you hit you hit different numbers.

What I think you should do before ordering the T200 series. Re-schedule another fitting session. Take your old irons with you start hit them first. Write down the numbers.
Than important, try out all the models, and get a feel for the clubs. Look at the launch angle, ball flight, hanging time, carry distance, total distance etc. than write those numbers from each model and start comparing what you feel which fits the most at your golf swing.

Ask a Titleist rep to assist you in this matter. Titleist fitting staff are specialist and have the experience in guiding you towards YOUR ultimate iron.

Again nothing to worry about, but start looking at yourself. What is it I want, What is it I am looking for, and What/Which club will give me the most forgiveness, feel, distance, comfort etc. in playing golf.

Good luck, let us know about the follow uw.

    Happy swings,

I was fit for T200s at a Titleist Thursday event and the fitter said a 46 degree angle of descent was ideal for the 7 iron. I assume that was specific to the T200 which has stronger lofts that players irons.

The T200 series has a little bit lower spin & ball flight than my 716 Ap1's. I hit the 100's, 200's & 300's. Hit 4 different shafts between regular (as my 716's were regular shaft) and stiff shaft because of numbers. We didn't really base much on spin rate as much as we did distance & angle of decent. Finally I was fitted for T200 AMT Black S300 & love them to pieces.

When I did my TSi fitting we were more concerned with Spin rate & launch angle.

I agree it's easy to get caught up in numbers, but all my Titleist Thursday Fittings have done a great job matching up my swing to the right combination of shaft & club.

Go and schedule another fitting to help you with the process. I always take & hit my club(s) with me to compare.
