I am playing Mitsubishi Kuro Kage Dual Core Black 60HY, Regular flex shafts in my Titleist TS2 21, 23, and 25 degree hybrids. I love the high ball flight this shaft provides, but find it to be a bit unstable. My driver swing speed is about 90 mph. Is there a shaft that will provide slightly more stability while maintaining most of the high ball flight? Perhaps the same shaft in a Stiff flex, or perhaps the 70HY model in Regular flex? I’ve tried the TENSEI AV Blue Hybrid 70 in Regular flex, but it seems a bit too board-like and low-flying.

    Hi,
I think the 60 gr. Hybrid shaft is on the light side.
Are you playing a driver in the 50 gr?

One older shaft that cross my mind and was performing for high launch and stability for hybrid was the Matrix Ozik white tie hx4.
I know that this company was sold to LA Golf Partners and they still make shaft for hybrids in regular and light (near 60 gr.) You could make a research on that shaft.

For me, the Matrix Ozik White Tie hybrid shaft HX4 in the 85 gr. was very stable, very high and surprising long.
You could also look on some Fujikura products for hybrid.

    Best regards,

I am assuming that you were fitted for you hybrids and and driver? If not that would be my recommendation!!! A good fitter can work with you. At 74 my swing speed is similar to yours and I am using the Fujikura Speeder Tour shafts which I really enjoy, which is a mid/high launch shaft. You never mentioned the setting on your driver. My 917D2 is set at 11.25 (by my fitter) and I carry the ball around 225 with lots of height. In researching that shaft on your driver it is a mid/low launch shaft. Could be one of the problems. You hybrids have a mid kick point or launch and that is why they fly higher and most likely tighter. The Mitsubishi Kuro Kage Dual Core Black 70HY also has a a mid/low kick point also. With respect and best of luck....

I play the Project X EvenFlow Blue Stiff in my 818 H2. Plenty of control and stability while producing a mid- high ball flight. Highly recommend.
