TS2 Weights

  1. I just recently changed the shaft in my TS2 driver to the Fujikura Atmos Blue from the HZRDUS Smoke Black to get more launch. Because I bought it used, it’s about an inch shorter than the stock shaft. So my question is this, would be helpful to put a heavier weight in the head to both adjust swing weight, and to compensate for having a shorter driver? For what it’s worth, I like the shorter shaft because I feel more in control of my swing.

    Thanks in advance!

    Hi,
For fun, you could try if you like.

But without the swingweight measuring machine and other specialized equipment, you do not know were you are going.

Did you verify that the HZRDUS and the Atmos have the same weight? In the 60 or in the 70 gr?

Shorter shaft is easier to hit for some golfers but not necessary for all golfers.
But the shorter the shaft is, the stiffness increase and cpm also increase.
If you add weight to the head, cpm should decrease.

Swingweights is influence by many variables, heads weight, shaft weight, shaft length, the grip weight.

The only thing that you could see now is: if you are hitting the Atmos better than the HZRDUS and if you prefer the feel, trajectory, distance etc.
To go further for improving the equipment, a good fitter could help and also a simulator.

    Best regards,

    Richard

If you want the swing weight back to what it was (or at least close to it) then go ahead and get a heavier weight. I'm not 100%, but I think you get the +2 gram weight.

If it is an inch shorter I would try the heavier weight. Had the local golf shop get me one and it's pretty cheap. I have the TS2 and switched out the original Tensei AV Blue 55 playing at 45 1/2" for a Ventus Blue Velocore 5 playing at 45" and tried the original weight and the +2 weight. Not sure what the swingweight worked out to but got better results with the heavier head weight.
  5. Do not worry about Swingweight. It was only meant as an approximation to moment of inertia. And only relevant when all the grips and shafts in the set are identical. What is important is Total Mass and moment of inertia around the center of the grip. You may check out matching of golf clubs on www.rational-golf.com.
