Seems some fitters will make a quick judgement that if you are hitting a pull or draw, that setting you in a 2 degree flat will straighten your ball flight. Problem is, the pull or draw may be caused by a grip or swing issue and not necessarily a "toe up" lie of the club. Nothing wrong with getting a second fitting by someone else just to make sure the results/recommendations are the same. It is quite possible that over time, your swing plane has changed and you might really need a different set up than you did in the past. Most importantly, you need to be comfortable and confident that your set up fits you so you can concentrate on the shot once on the course. Good luck. Hit'm straight and stay safe.

it would seem to me that you should have been discussing this with your fitter during the session. If you did, did the fitter try you in the shorter configuration? Were the results what you expected or what the fitter predicted?

your swing and posture may have changed in that time. i was fitted in 2018 for ap3 standard length, 2 degrees upright regular flex, got fitted in the autumn last year, t100s stiff shaft standard length and lie

It was definitely not what I expected. For context I'm 6 foot 2", play off a 1 handicap and would like to think I'm a fairly consistent ball striker.

These were all things that I discussed with my fitter at the time and the length/lie angle was something we settled on after working our way through the options.

I guess I'll need to get out and play when they arrive and be confident that they are correct for me now!

As a fitter, from our perspective we fit for what we see on that particular day. Playing the 1" long may have flattened your swing over time. I am big on seeing what natural posture the player has (hands high, hands low or neutral) the club path can also factor, in to out will usually see a little flatter, out to in more upright. Not a huge fan of lie boards. Ultimately ball flight results are most important and if the results were better with a certain lie AND it felt natural and comfortable so you make fewer compensations then it should be good to go. If you have doubt, try again on a different day or with a different fitter. Fittings are subjective recommendations.

Yes, it happened to me also. One fitter had me in a 1/2 " long, 2 deg upright and another was 1/2" long, 1 deg. flat. All fittings in the past had me in flat irons. Very confusing to the player. Makes me wonder, how good are these fitters. Are some of them no more than demo day, club hook-up people, apprenticing as fitters? This is my feeling on this. When you go to a fitter such as Ryan Chrysler, for example, who is going to charge for his time, you're going to get the real deal. When you go a free Fitting Day, well, you get what you pay for or as they used to say "The worst advice is free advice". Just my opinion on the matter.

Agreed. Both times were with Titleist fitters.

At all my Titleist fittings we compared my current setup ball flight , launch angles & spin rates to the various clubs heads, shafts & lie settings I hit to determine the right combination for my current swing. I have been in 1/4" long 2* up, stiff shafts back in 2011, to standard lie & length & stiff shafts in 2013, to standard lie & length, Regular flex shafts in 2016, to my current setup of 1/2" longer, 2* up & stiff shafts at 58 years of age. but all my numbers validate what I currently play. back in 2016 my swing wasn't as good as it is now, nor was my physical ability.
