  1. I have a stock, off the shelf, 9° TSI4 driver with a Graphite design tour AD XC-6, flex X shaft. I am shortening to 44 1/2 inches playing length, not tipping. I would like to know if I need to add additional weight to the head to accommodate the shorter shaft to retain proper swing weight. Any advice is appreciated.

To save yourself regrets down the road. I would imagine you are trying to increase the accuracy in the driver and I do this when I start going astray by simply choking down on the shaft. Just sayin'. Did it today on the course.
  3. 2 grams of lead tape should do it assuming it is currently 45" question is - what swingweight are you wanting? personally i think people obsess a bit too much on preconceived exact swingweight numbers, if it feels too light add tape or get a titleist weight kit until it feels right and you get the results you want - whether its D1, D4 or D6 who cares as long as it works.

If you're going to shorten the shaft, get a few weights and experiment with them for the best swing weight or feel. You can usually buy them in combos and they're not that expensive. Try the +2, +4, & +6

From my research and from my observations (I have a swingweight scale), removing 1/2" from shaft will decrease the swingwieght of a club by 3 points. 2 grams of weight in the head will add in 1 swingweight point. So if you remove 1/2 inch of length, you will need to add 6 grams to get it back to its prior swingweight. If you remove an inch, you will need to add 12 grams of weight to get it to its prior swingweight. This can be a little dependent on how the weight in your shaft is distributed too.

I play a TSi3 at 44.75" (Ventus Blue 6x tipped .5") and I needed to add a total of 8 grams back in the head to get it to swingweight at D4 (a total of 16 grams of weight in the weight track, two 8 gram weights positioned in T2 and H2). I played it at D2 all last season with the +4 weight (12 grams) but wanted to match the swingweight of my TSi2 fairway wood and TSi2 hybrid which were both D4.

I know some think "just play what feels good, who cares what the swing weight is" but you may not suffer from OCD of having to know all your woods are the same swingweight. Hahahaha! D3 in my T100 irons 4-9, D4 in T100 PW and 50* Vokey, and D6 in 54* and 60* Vokeys.
  6. Thank you so much for your contribution. I too get OCD regarding swing weights, playing lengths, grips, and just about everything else. Being technically accurate certainly contributes to my confidence on the course and therefore my enjoyment of the game.
