Unfortunately, my club, The PGA Golf Club in Port St. Lucie, FL, will no longer schedule Demo/Fitting days with Titleist, basically due to the $100.00 fee. We have just about every major club mfg. here at the club doing demo/fittings and the only one that charges a fee is Cleveland Wedges and that is because the do a 90 min. wedge clinic along with the fitting. We have 1,000 members with golfing privileges and companies love to come here and showcase their products. I hope that Titleist, the leader in golf equipment in my opinion, will revisit the policy of charging to Demo and Fit equipment. I realize that it costs money to do this, but it costs ALL companies money to do this.

Tell them you're a pro. They get free fittings whenever they want, and free clubs whenever they want.

That fee goes towards the purchase of clubs and they are not open to the public. Members only. Most clubs do not have an issue with the fees.

Barry M: Pros do not get clubs from Titleist unless they are on Titleist approved staff. So he should not tell the fitters he is a pro unless he has a Class A Card to back it up.

Don't worry. I've been a member of my club for 7 years. I'm not about to fool anyone. LMAO. Strikes me funny that my club, which is owned by the PGA of America, would have an issue with Titleist.

Smells a little fishy. The $100 fee is refunded with a purchase that day from that club. Too many were using the time as a demo and not as a professional fitting. Not sure why your club would kill additional sales by the club over a refundable/serious inquiry fitting fee.

I know at trade shows Titleist avoids demos as an expense with a small benefit. I know of all the demos I’ve attended, I’ve never bought a Cobra, Tour Edge, etc.

Im fine with paying a fitting fee, even at an event. However I believe it should be waived if product is ultimately purchased. Oddly enough, my local regional Titleist fitting centre (Northview G&CC) is the only provider that doesn't do this. Ive been fit for various product maybe a half dozen times over the past few years and Titleist's the first place not willing to waive the fee, in this case on a $2500+ purchase.
I ended up paying the fitting fee and ordering the product from my previous fitter (Modern Golf) who has always waived the fitting fee, even on Titleist product.

I was excited to go to a formal regional Titleist provider but as trivial as the complaint may be, I won't be going back. Will continue to have my annual fits done by a third party unless that policy changes.

  7. Hey Alex - I was thinking of getting fit for a new driver at Northview. Their site doesn't list a fee. What did they charge? Currently taking lessons at Modern Golf so I'll have to ask them next time I'm there. Pretty sure the TSR2 would be the right one for me but would be nice to try some different shafts. Cheers

I believe there are still various levels of fittings with different fee structures. The premier fitting at the TPI locations have always had a fee that is not applied to any purchase. The old Titleist Thursday fitting which used to be free have changed to $100 fee but it can be directly applied to the purchase of the club(s) you test. Demo days continue to be free of charge but are not as prevalent and tend to be more frequent during the launch period of new clubs.

    Hey Dale,
Public events are not free anymore as they all charge $100. Private events are still free at Coubtry Clubs unless the public club makes it private.

When I say free demo days I am talking about those occasional events like the one Edwin Watts in La Jolla does where they have 2 days with all the manufacturers there at their range. They are not frequent but do exist at a few places. Formal exclusive “Titleist only” have fees.
