    Here is my question.  My 11 year old son recently collected caddie bibs at the RBC Heritage Golf Tournament on HHI SC.  While he was there both days on Saturday and Sunday, several Titleist golf ball users were kind enough to throw him a ball which the player used in the event.  I will not include names of players but you can guess who some were.  

    My question is this, I noticed on some of the PROV1X balls there was a + sign after PROV1X and also a "dot" after the PROV1X stamping. What does the plus sign and the dot represent and how does it alter the ball?

    Thanks for the post. Sounds like a great experience for your son.

    The golf balls have the same basic construction from the core, casing, cover and dimple pattern. The only minor difference is a slight variation in flight/trajectory (i.e. the Pro V1x+ has a slightly higher flight) that some players on tour like to see.

    Unfortunately, there are extensive costs in bringing an entirely new ball line to market:

    • Packaging

    * Shelf space

    • Brand dilution / customer confusion (Look at how many "What's the difference between V1/V1x?" threads there are already!

    Would it be fabulous if Titleist would offer them to order, maybe only through pro shops? Absolutely. But even then they would be incurring additional support and distribution costs, for a ball that most likely is functionally identical for 99%+ of the golfers out there.

    Perhaps in the coming age of bespoke manufacturing we'll be able to customize balls as we do irons now, but today… the + model is likely to remain tour-only.

    Are these available for Tour only players?    I dought they were part of the TEST balls.

    Wow that is awesome. I had no idea that variations of the ProV's existed. I have no issues with high ball flight/trajectory though, so I have zero interest in getting any of those balls.

    Just my two cents, and I may be in left field but here is my take.  Titleist has to make money on anything they launch into the marketplace and sell.  Obviously, pros make their livings with their equipment and if a manufacturer gives them these tweaks then that is ok.  Of course, there are many pros using the ProV1x's just like what you and I get in our pro shops!  JAT

    I have a friend who is a tour pro. He uses the left dot Pro V. Those are a lower trajectory ball. They are a tour only ball.
