My 8 year old son is taking lessons and starting to play.  I couldn't be happier that he is playing the game.  My question is, in the Titleist family, what is the best ball for a Junior to use,  Velocity or DT Solo?

Based on cost alone, I would probably go with the SOLO.  Plus they are pretty easy to get up off the ground, which beginning golfers sometimes tend to struggle with.

I grew up playing anything I found until high school. Since then, I have played nothing but the Pro V1X. However, I do feel that I gained an education about the different balls out there and their performance characteristics. Sure, if your 8 y/o plays in a tournament then the SOLO would be the one I choose. However, for just kicking around let him hit anything he can get his hands on and feel the difference.
  4. Ken congrats on your future star playing golf! When I was in High School we played the DT and shot frequently very low without problem, for an 8 year old I would agree price would be the factor since he is probably not compressinig the ball enough yet to make a major difference.  I would purchase whatever is on sale or best price in the Titleist Family!

    Good Luck!

    Chris
