IMO and I've played with both, Pro V1 has more control...  

But I will say the 2015 ProV1x is VERY close... 

I have found the Pro V1 to hold and not release as much as the Pro V1x on short greenside shots. The Pro V1x is better for me from 150 and in because it may take one hop and stop, where the Pro V1 may take one hop and spin back too far. I like the release of the Pro V1x greenside since I like to roll the ball in a bump and run fashion. It will stop on a high shot as well like a flop shot; I just like the higher percentage I get with the bump and run. Hope that helps, Play Well, GO LOW!

thanks man really helps I'm still a newbie so I don't have a set type of shot I like other than getting it near the hole. 

I'm a 5 handicapper and can generate a pretty hefty amount of spin from 100 yards and in, prefer the V1x just to help reduce that. Also love the distance and little bit higher launch angles as well, compared to the V1. Both are great of course. Also, the NXT Tour is a close 3rd place on the list when the $$ gets a little tight.

Hey Jacob - Everyone on the forum here is spot on so I wont regurgitate their experiences, as they are similar to mine.  I would recommend that you grab a sleeve of each from your local shop and play them side by side, shot for shot.  Give them each a fair shake (and only assess the well struck shots) and see what feels best to you.  This will be the best way to evaluate whats best for your game.  Good luck and hit em straight!

Jacob. I would highly recommend getting ball fitted if you can. I was playing an NXT Tour and after getting ball fitted i found out i should be playing a ProV. 

The ball on depends on the swing.. 

From my experience both balls spin very similar from the 8 iron down to the wedges.

From 7 iron down, the ProV1 spins a bit more than the ProV1x.
Also I find that with the longer irons my natural draw is a bit bigger with the ProV1 than with the ProV1x. Same with the driver/woods.

For that reason I play the ProV1x, however if the X did not exist I would be happy to play with the ProV1.

Good question and I hear it a lot.  It really depends on your game and the type of shot you most often hit around the green.  If you like the flop shot and the rough you typically play isn't really deep, the Pro V1 is probably the ball you would like better.  You can get more club head on the ball, create more spin and be more aggressive.  If the rough is deep (which will kill most spin) or you prefer to bump and run it, the Pro V1x will generate less spin but still give you enough grip on the ball to be aggressive.  This is my experience with the two balls... I play the Pro V1x specifically for this reason... my home course has deep rough around the greens so I'm not going to get a lot of spin anyway and I prefer to pick out a landing spot and let the ball roll.....

IMO the V1 has more spin.  The V1x holds well for me with most every approach but around the greens I prefer the V1.

Jacob, I think they are very similar, but Pro V1 has the edge.   To me the difference is the feel.   The Pro V1 feels softer than the Pro V1x.   But the actual control is similar.

I prefer the V1X because it's slightly firmer, so for full wedge shots it doesn't spin as much as the V1 - which gives me a more drop and stop performance - which for me means its under control.

I use the V1X 80% of the time and sometimes the NXT Tour without any change in my score.  I shot back to back 74s using the V1X ball one day and the NXT Tour the next!   But I play with a great amateur alot (he has played in major amateur events including the US Senior Am and British Senior Am) and he uses either V1X and V1 saying he can't tell enough of a difference that it would impact his score. So I would pick what feels good to you.

I fully agree that given both are terrific golf balls, it boils down to what feels good and works for the individual. Around the green it also depends a bit on how you play your wedges. in the same way that your angle of attack dictates the bounce you should have on your wedges. One should just buy a sleeve of each and experiment - that is a bit of fun in itself.
