At this time of year, my club, Gullane Golf Club ( host of Scottish Open this year) always cut back the rough on our 17th hole. I usually hunt for golf balls when the rough has been cut and our local Charity Shops get the benefit. Today and yesterday I found a total of 116 balls! Exactly 50% of theses balls were Titleist. Our Club has a big membership and hosts thousands of visitors each year. Titleist's boast as No. 1 ball is certainly confirmed by the above. Keep it up guys!!

    Graeme,

116 just from the cut rough on the 17th hole....WOW!  It's great that all these "found" balls will eventually end up with new owners and that the proceeds benefit local charities in your area.  What a wonderful way to give back to your community!

    Well Done!

Thanks Barry for your kind words. I used to put all the balls I found into the local Cancer Research shop - several thousand balls over the last 6 or 7 years - but now put them elsewhere as I found that my constant visits to give them golf balls and clubs from friends and club members, seemed to cause the manager to become short with me as she was always too busy!!! I used to price all the clubs, clean them up and even repair the ones that needed it. I used Cancer Research as my wife had breast cancer and they were very good to her at Cancer Research. I now put the balls ( sadly) into other Charity Chops such as Oxfam, Chest Heart and Stroke and the Bethany Trust. All these shops are great to me and very happy with my help!! Enough said. Graeme

I had the good fortune to play all three Gullane Courses in Spring 2012.

What a great club and love the entire vibe of the town with the municipal putting green.

Have a great pair of Slanj tartan trousers . . . . great memories!

Hi Kevin, Thanks for your Email and your kind words about our Club and courses. I joined Gullane Golf Club on my 14th birthday on 27/04/1960 and became an Hon Life Member last year. I have always loved the golf courses and now play on a Wed am and Sat am with a couple of old friends. There used to be about 8 of us, but, sadly, due to illness, old age and deaths, there are now just 3. I have experienced fantastic times on Gullane Hill and still battle on. In my youth ,I managed to get down to a 1 handicap and now am struggling a bit to hold on to 6. I can think of no better place to play my golf and have requested that my ashes be scattered up at the 7th tee on no1 course which is possibly the finest view in all golf. Hope that it's a while yet!! Graeme
