Nicholas, pick up a sleeve of 3 balls and give them a try. They are a little softer than the ProV1x and actually spin a little more. Most of the people using the ProV1x are trying to cut down on the driver spin. The new AVX is the best feeling ball i have tested around the greens and with the putter.

Buy a sleeve of Pro V1s and go out and compare them head-to-head on the course (as long as you're not holding up other groups).

With the 2017 version, not much distance off of driver, some height but more forward roll. Spin around greens will be individual to your game.

My humble advice, give the Pro V1 a shot and go off of feel. You will chip and putt much more than you drive or hit long irons, it makes sense to accommodate the short game when choosing a ball for this reason.

I can say that the pro v1 is one of my favorites. I used it for my entire life, and highly recommend it. I launched golf balls over the netting with the pro v1 and have killed a total of six squirrels and one bird with it.

Congratulations, Nicholas, on your exceptional handicap. Although I have used both, for me, it comes down to swing speed. My swing speed is on the low side (I strive for accuracy over distance), and find the V-1 suits me better. My suggestion would be to pick up a box (they are heavily discounted for Christmas) and try them out. Even if they turn out to not be your cup of tea, they perform well enough you won't suffer for your purchase. I occasionally will use a V-1x on long and straight fairways, to take advantage of the trajectory, and my regular V-1's where shaping shots or difficult greens are a priority. I believe the distances are pretty close, it's the amount of roll and the trajectory that seem, to me, to be the major differences, along with the V-1's softer feel.
