Why do pro v 1s have to be so expensive? I know they are great golf balls and my ball of choice but most of the time I'm pushed to buy recycled balls because i don't have the money for the new ones and they don't perform anywhere close to as good as a fresh ball.

You answered your own question. "They are my ball of choice" supply and demand. We all keep buying them at their high price.

They do have R&D cost's, Advertising, Staff and a myriad of other expenses, But most of it is prolly just the name.

You should rely on the middle ground.  You're compairing top of the line to recycled balls.  Titleist offers the NXT, NXT Tour, or DT Solo as options..  They are way better than bottom line recycles. Check out the Ball Fitting section on the site and see which fits your game.

     Just a thought

I only play ProVs when I am playing a good course of if I have put the work in to shoot a good score. Otherwise I play NXTs they play similar just dont bite quite as much on the greens so just adjust for that. Rather than my wedge from 100 yds hitting and spinning back a foot or so with a ProV the NXTs hit and stop dead or release a foot or so. Provs biggest difference is with wedges and around the greens, off the tee I feel the differences are not significantly different for me.
