How long will Pro V1X balls last on the shelf?  Between last Christmas and this one I have 17 boxes of Pro V1Xes.  I play a little over 100 rounds a year but will increase this number when I retire in March.

I am sure you will be fine. I do the same thing, stock pile several dozen in preparation for the season. Years ago, the compression in golf balls would decrease if they sat for a period of time. With new technology, I don't believe that to be the case.

There have been studies done on golf balls and some believe the shelf life of todays golf balls could be as high as 5 years. They should be kept on a shelf with normal room temperature and not in direct sunlight.

    Hi guys,

Here is some more info on the topic. Today's Titleist golf balls can be safely stored for five years or even more, as long as they're kept away from excessive heat. Attics and cars, for example, can get very hot during the summer and can dramatically shorten a ball's life. Normal indoor conditions should be fine for storage.

You should also consider that golf ball technology is improving rapidly, so if you're playing balls that were made more than a couple of years ago, you may be missing out on improvements that have been made to that model, not to mention completely new models.

I'm at Titleist guy through and through, and have a ? for you

I'm presently playing with the older version AP1s with KBS Tour 90 steel shafts which I absolutely love. I wanted to upgrade to the new AP1s which research has indicated is a much superior club-yet would love to keep/use my present shafts-is that possible  Happy Holidays-Jerry

    Hi Jerry,

Glad to have you here on Team Titleist. My first recommendation would be to visit one of our authorized Titleist fitters to get fit for your irons. This will give you the opportunity to test out a number of different shafts and setups to find which combination is going to be best for your game. Getting a precision fit is really the best first step for any golfer looking at updating their Titleist irons.

I did speak to the club team about your question on using your current shafts and while it is technically possible, there are a number of things to consider. Because we do not sell heads individually you would still need to purchase a set of irons assembled with shafts. If you decided to go this route, you would have to have a club builder switch the shafts out for you but this would void the club's warranty. We typically don't recommend.

Again, I think your best bet would be to start with a fitting and then go from there. Hope this helps.
