Ever since I got my surprise sleeves in the mail I've been putting and chipping the new Pro V's around the house.  And now there's actually grass showing in Massachusetts!  Since the ground is not entirely soggy, the rain has stopped, and there's a little bit of sunshine out there I felt it necessary to do a little product testing.

I went into the back yard and started chipping some balls into my Bulldog's baby pool (yes my Bulldog has a pool).  I didn't notice much difference in feel but I carpet putted, carpet chipped, and pitched in the yard better with the new Pro V1x.  The thing is I've been a Pro V1 guy since they came out.  I've played around with both balls, but the 1 was just the best ball for my game until now.

I know this isn't exactly a round of golf, and I won't know until I actually get out there, but have any of you had similar experiences?

I have always played the 1x since it fits my game better with less driver spin, but the same spin around the greens. I have noticed with the new 1x's over previous models that the greenside spin is more noticeable, and with approach shots there is more spin as well. With my greens here, they are harder for the other golfers to hold but I hold them better than I did previously. As a side note, I wish my club offered the Titleist line on the range. I would be fine with any of the NXT series, but would REALLY prefer the Pro V1 series. Hope this helps.

I used to be a strict ProV1x player. I'd use other balls sometimes, but if it was a Titleist, it was a V1x.

This year changed. I grabbed a dozen of both to test, and while I like the V1x.. I get more spin on the short game, same soft feel putting, and while I get a higher ball flight with the driver, it's flatter, better in the wind, and still low enough that I get plenty of roll out, and it's just as long as last years ProV1x for me. Side by side, played 18 holes, and never saw any difference unless it was my swing.

But the new ProV1 is so much more durable than the V1x. I tear the V1x up really bad.. Worse than previous models I'd think. The new V1 however is really durable however, and gives a bit more.

After, finally, getting to play a couple of rounds i noticed the 1x's are suited for my game more so than the 1's. I get unreal distance off the tee. Great feel off my irons. The short game told the tale! The ball does spin just as much as the 1's. I had to double check the sleeves sent from Titleist just to make sure they sent a sleeve of each. Also, the ball is as durable as advertised. ProV1x is the PERFECT ball for my game.

I have always played the Prov1X's and since the new ones came out I seem to be playing the Prov1 's over the X's. I still like them the both of them the same though.

So i've gotten to play 9 with both new balls and I honestly can't tell much of a difference.  I would be able to tell the difference from previous year's models, but this year is a crap shoot.

Maybe a touch less spin off the tee ball with the 1x, but really they're performance is about the same.  Great ball either way.

Josh G,  I have played the prov1x for years and have found them to be best suited for my game.  However, the new 2011 version is harder and I feel not as responsive as the 2009 version.  I feel I have to work harder to truly get the benefits of the new version.  The prov1 seems to be softer and more in line with the 2009 prov1x.  I intend to try the 2011 prov1 for a period of time and hope it fits my game.  Any opinions?

So I actually got to play 18 holes today and I'm a big fan off the 1x.  I'm going to be playing again tomorrow and am going to switch it up to the 1 to see how it goes.  I don't think you can go wrong with either of these balls.

Alright so I think I might have to flip flop like a fish out of water.  I played the Pro V1 today and my putts, pitches, and chips were all improved.  I had three less putts and beat my previous round by 4 shots.  I also missed 2 more fairways and missed one more green.  Next round I'm using the 1 again.  Both balls are very durable- which is nice.  I'm torn...

What was your feel relative to the new (2011) pro  v1 and pro v1x?  I understand that you scored better with the prov 1, but did you feel one ball was softer or more responsive.  As I expressed earlier, I feel that the new x feels harder that the 2009 version and I am hoping that the 2011 prov 1 will  feel and play similar to the 2009 prov 1x version.  comments please.

I think the 1 was a touch softer, but definitely more responsive than the 1x.  For me responsive means spin.  The 1 spun more with half shots and chips.  I don't know if I have the 2009 1x as I've been a Pro V1 guy for a long time.  I didn't think either one of them felt hard, but I think the new 1 is slightly harder than the previous models 1.  Hope this helps.

Yes, Josh thanks for the great topic.. I actually have seen greater success for my game by using the new prov1xs. They are simply wonderful

They're both great balls.  It's interesting to see what everyone else is thinking.  After some evaluation I think I have to stick with the Pro V1 based solely on scores.  I like the feel of the 1x, but I've played them side by side and I just score better with a the Pro V1.

I def feel the new X spins more, but it goes further (lower spin) than any version of the 1 off mid irons through driver (from what I can tell). I haven't played the new 1 other than a few shots, but I would def say the new X is closer to other version of the 1 than any previous model of the X.
