How many rounds can a ProV1 be played before it begins to lessen in performance?

How often do most players change to a new ball?

According to some they are thru after 2 wedge shots. I haven't had that problem since about '99.

It depends for me.  I don't hit my drives very far so I don't lose too many balls.  I would say 36 holes is where my New Pro V is pretty shot.  The old Pro V would be lucky to make it through 18.  Usually I'll play one for 9 holes and then throw it in bag for a hole with a risky tee shot (long forced carry, trouble ladened fairway, watery par 3 etc)

what determines when the ball is unplayable for you or anyone else reading this? Does it lose it's performance such as driving distance, checking/spin back around the greens?  If the ball has obvious abrasions, cuts or cover shred, I can understand that....if its a performance isue, please explain. Thanks in advance.

For me it's mostly about the cover. If its really sheered or chopped I won't play it because I think it can affect the ball's roll on the green. I don't notice any lack of performance off the tee, but I've seen the ball take some weird hops while putting or chipping with beat up ball.
