The Rulz say only when a ball is lost, or deemed unfit for play. 'Lost' is self-explanatory. But in the pro world where balls are rarely lost, is the pro stuck with the same ball for the entire round or entire tournament unless declared 'unfit for play' due to visible cuts or cracks?

Under the 'same ball' rule do they have to use the eggsack same ball type? Could they mix a V1 with a Vx?

The individual player is resposible for determining if a ball is unfit for play. And yes, the brand and model of ball you start with is what you use the whole round. If a player runs out of balls and his competitor has the same ball he can borrow from him, if unable to come up with the same ball he is disqualified.

The short answer-  any kind of scuff or mark on your ball could potenially affect the roll of your putts, therefore, deemed unsuitable for play.  As long as you've finished (and holed out) the current hole in play, you can put a different ball in play on your next tee shot.

You are looking at when a ball in play can be replaced, that would be lost of damaged. After a hole is completed you can change balls.

I believe the one ball rule that is in the rules of golf only applies to the play of one hole, meaning you would have to replace a ball that is in play with a ball that is the same make and model.

The one ball rule from the PGA rules requires that they play the same make and model the entire round. So no, they cannot play a ProV1 and a ProV1x.
