Hi All-  i was just curious to see how many of you have gone thru and in store or on course ball fitting? where you have actually got your numbers (spin rate etc)?  Did you feel it was a benefit ?  or do most of you just play a certain ball and test it against other ones?

Reason being play the prov1 but seems like i get a lot of spin off driver, don't like the V1x so i was just curious to see what others have don to find the right ball.

thanks as always for the insight.

I was fortunate enough to be fitted by the Titleist Tour Van this past January when they were here in Orlando for the PGA Merchandise Show. The full bag fitting also included a ball fitting. Found out that I was getting too much spin with the short shots when using the regular ProV1 and was fitted with the ProV1x and what a difference it made. I like the 2011 version of the X even better as it spins (to me) less than the earlier versions. No more backing the ball off the green! Then we worked on getting the driver and shaft combination to "fit" the ball. You might want to give the new X another try as it definitely spins less than the regular ProV1. But if you are sold on the way the regular ProV1 works around the green, you might want to get fitted for a new driver. It worked for me!!'

Good insight... i did go to the 910 D3 to try and get a driver that would help with spin... maybe i will give the 2011 X a try i have only played the older versions.

    anyone else have comments ?

Greg hit he nail on the head, if you are spinning a Pro V1 too much with the driver, the actual club has a major influence. The difference in spin for all of our balls off of the driver is only a few hundred rpm's.

My number 1 concern is short game green grabbing. So my first test is on our good practice green.

Price does play a roll in my decision, reaction when hitting the green from full swing, and least important is distance.

The ball doesn't have to dance around like the new ProV1, but does need to stop in a reasonable distance.

In fact I think I prefer for it to roll out a little bit because I usually play to a short distance, I never want to go over the green. But it is fun to watch the ball dance and end up where it hit.

All I have done on a launch monitor is a few years ago the KZG rep was at my course and I hit driver mainly just to see my swing speed. And once at Persimmon Ridge I stood in line for 30 min then I took 1 swing and the monitor quit working, must've been my massive power.
