I know we all have our different requirements from balls but I would like to know what is your measurement criteria for comparing balls? I know Titleist sell the most balls and thet PV1 and PV1x dominate the tour, the same way TM Drivers dominate the tour because they are given away. using my criteria, the PV1 and PV1x are no good. they change color, they scuff, they spin to much and they are to soft on my putter. I use the B330S, they dont scuff for nothing, they give me the right amount of spin and they perform great off the driver, irons and putter feel is nice and more firm. interesting thing is that I have played my best scores with a 333 two piece ball. I have broken par 5 times in the last 4 months using this ball. So my question is what is the best ball

I believe that whatever ball you play with and have the most confidence in is what you should use. I have never had the problems you seem to have with either the ProV1 or ProV1x. I have tried the Bridgestone balls and found them to be a good ball, but for me personally, they don't measure up to the Titleist ball. I only had one ball discolor and that, I believe, was due to my not cleaning the ball after use. Scuffing is just normal and I don't expect a ball to last forever. I might get 5, maybe 7 holes at the most from one ball, and that is what I normally get all the time.

Again, whatever you are most comfortable with, stick with it and be happy.

I am a little confused.  I have never heard an amateur say a golf ball spins too much.  And with the groove change I don't hear it from them either.  A rock also doesn't scuff.  A ball that doesn't ever scuff would be much like a range ball, which we all know are terrible.  And too soft on a putter?  Wow.  That's also a first for me.  Never heard that.  The ProV1s are number one because they are by far the best ball, hands down.  Nothing is close.  The only reason some other major pros play something else is because they are paid large sums of money to play them.  96 World wide wins this year for Titleist balls, next nearest competitor has 13.  That is hands down dominance.  And that's across all tours.  Women, Men, European....Titleist wins on them all

Todd P. as a 10 hdcap I am sure you are a great supporter of Titleist. I have been playing golf from the age of 15 and for the most of the past 27 years have been a low single figure handicap who has played golf at national and international level. This does not mean that I know more than you about golf but have a lot more experiance. having played with wooden clubs right through the evolution of golf equipment to where we are today. Thanks to a good swing healthy body and new technology, I still play of a 3 handicap. My point about ProV1 and ProVx is the following. They are great balls and no other ball has so many wins behind its name, however, the most successful golfer in the modern day does not play Titleist, the second most successful also does not play Titleist ball. The point is that it is not the best ball for everyone. I play S330S because it spinns less and for me have a great feel. I use to play the I Tour but the new ball is very soft. I have long been a Titleist supporter and play the 910 driver, 3 wood and 17 and 20 deg hybrids. I have played Mizuno irons for 15 yrs and will not change as they are fantastic, the best forging in the business apart from Miura Golf. I joked with the guy who started this discussion on the ProV's en Penta's. so enjoy your golf, the ProV is a great ball

Jakes D, I do appreciate you checking out my Titleist profile.  Tiger and Phil do not play Titleist because they are paid to play others.  I doubt anyone out there believes those two wouldn't be playing Titleist otherwise.  Also of note those two players are 28th and 6th in the world right now.  My entire point was a tour pro doesn't spin them too much.  I guess it is always possible you get a ton more spin than a pro, especially off the driver.  Tour pros also go for the softest ball that still flies well.  I totally understand someone choosing to use a different ball.  I just didn't like the implied failures of the best, and most successful, ball in the world, especially when they aren't failures.

I received the six pack of Penta's as well. I found them to be a very good golf ball.
