This might be a stupid question but I have always been curious about what that electric lightening flash thing is that is on the assembly line in the ProV1 commercials.  It seems like each ball goes into it and it looks like a big flash of lightning.  Is it some kind of Quality Assurance scanner or what?  Maybe Mike D. could answer this question.  Just curious because it catches my eye every time.

You have heard of Lightning in a bottle. Well they found a way to catch Lightning in a golf ball :)

    Hi Jeff,

Thanks for the question and it is definitely not a stupid one. The "electric lightening flash" that is shown in our Pro V1 commercials is part of the golf ball construction that prepares the surface of the cores for the next step in the process - the application of the cover. I've been lucky enough to take a tour of our golf ball plant in New Bedford, Mass. and see the full process start to finish and it really is amazing to watch. Thanks again for the post.

Thank you for the reply Mike.  It really does seem like a very in-depth process to manufacture a golf ball.
